Suspended.
My boy was suspended today.......words have failed me today. Parenting is hard.
Wednesday, October 27, 2004 @ 9:53 PM
My body hath failed me...
....thereby making today a .......drum roll please.......*DAY OFF* Or as much of a day off as we all get.
I straightened the house. Did a tiny bit of laundry, enough to get the Halloween costumes ready. Did the whole cycle of load/run/reload the diswasher. Hand washed what dishes were there. Made lunch. Took Devin to preschool, caught the Halloween songs. Came home, tried to take a nap. Tried to take a nap with Maiya too. Made some phone calls, usually let these pile up. Went to Home Depot, exchanged some things and got new stuff. Hit Meijers. Just Devin and myself for the evening running. She needed some one-on-one. We were a good looking pair.....her in her costume and all.
Hopefully my body will have returned to me by tomorrow. My left wrist is bucking and not able to grip or bear any weight to it right now. (Too much overextending while scrubbing the bathroom floor with the nylon brush.) My heels/ankles/and achilles tendons are screaming at me. (Way too much ladder time.) My left shoulder has lost it's ability to perform any type of range of motion. This injury comes with the bonus pain that radiates from the left side of the neck to the actual shoulder. (Unsure how I managed this one.) And my hands are sore and stiff at all the joints/knuckles. (Floor scrubbing again.)
I am feeling old today...
My door inserts are done, yay! Need to get those tomorrow and drop off film for developing. I'm hoping to get the bathroom floor scrubbed and ready for sealing. The kitchen floor scrubbed and ready for it's penetrating sealer. And the gods have smiled on me this year as far as Halloween costumes.......I need to make some duck feet and fashion some sort of hook, since I was unable to secure one tonight. Oh yeah, and preschool open house tomorrow night. Think that's it.

Reasons for being MIA
Lately, I have:
Worked on changing out the light in the kitchen, it's still not flush with the ceiling. What gives?!? Done the last of the Citri-stripping on the hoosier cabinet, sanded it, cleaned it, and linseed oiled it. Put up the antique broom holder behind the kitchen door. Finished sanding the corners of the kitchen floor. Researched the various types of wood floor sealers and urathanes.
I have patched a few holes in the dining room walls, primed and painted those spots. Reorganized and decluttered the dining room.
Got the bathroom floor just about scrubbed and ready to seal. I ran out of stripper and need to get more tomorrow.
Put the guest room closet back together. Hung the bear head in the guest room.....oy vey!
Painted the living room ceiling, and re-bordered the room. Touched up some spots on the walls.
Finished the stairway......patched all the holes, caulked the edges, hung the textured wallpaper, and painted it on one wall. Put fresh paint on the other walls and ceiling of it. (Over 12' high that stairwell is.......not my favorite place to be, up on the extension ladder/plank system. I will be taking a big fat pass when Joe from Fear Factor calls me about being on the show. That was worse than being on the roof I do believe.
Patched some spots in the hallway upstairs, primed and painted them.
Primed and painted Trent's closet.
Helped my gf move some of her things into our attic. She is going to cooking school in NH next month. My other gf was here the last two days to help with some of this stuff, thank goodness for her! Her Dh was outside blowing the leaves for us too, how lucky are we?
Scrapped 8 L/O's. Yay!
The home stretch is sooo close, I can see it! Except we are going to bite the bullet and have the handyman start both our bedroom and the girl's bedroom at the same time. No sense having two major cleanups, two seperate insulation blower rental times, blah, blah, blah. Help me Jesus. The handyman is coming tomorrow to do the laundry room also. Put up 2x4's, insulate, and drywall.
I really need to figure out a webpage to post pictures to....
Tomorrow is Devin's Halloween party at preschool. Her Super Devin stuff is in the washing machine as I type. I need to go to HD (darn!) and Meijer's tomorrow. Trent's birthday is just around the corner, and I have no real plan yet. Except that I know I need cake and frosting, and a hook for his costume. His party at school is on Friday. We have preschool open house Thursday night and a soccer party on Friday night.
And now? I have about enough energy to go eat some dump cake and ice cream, then hit the hay. ;) G'night all!

Waaa!
Evil One's cell phone was not working today........and I didn't hear her message to us until after she called. We drove down to here, but she must have left before we got there. No meeting....:( And yet I see that she was able to talk to Kimmer on the same cell.....I'm going to try to call the darn thing again.

The sky is falling!
Well, my bedroom ceiling to be exact. Guess it couldn't hold that textured paint. WHACK!! One less fucking thing to do right now. It has now turned into a big ass re-drywall project for the handyman, who is WAY busy lately.
Think it's time to stop on the quest to kill myself finishing the house. Nothing like a falling ceiling to make you stop and take a break.
Off to clean up the bedroom...
(I did make excellent progress this last week though.....)

Why?
Oh why do I always leave the Village work for the last minute? I've busted my hump the last two days to GET ER DONE! The kids think I'm a crazy lady lately. I will have you know that tonight's meeting minutes are already done and copying as I type. Whoo Hoo! The meeting was one hour and three minutes long tonight, that I can handle. We actually whipped through a buch of stuff though. Budget amendments, the 2005 wage and salary schedule (yay for them for approving my extra $100 a month next year), items to bid out, and the Village 5-year master plan.
Anywho. I have a few loose ends to tie up tomorrow. Then I have to overhaul the account codes and categories. Then start working on the 2005 budget. It has to be in the Council's hands by the next meeting. That way they have a month to reveiw it before it's adopted at the December meeting. Fun. fun, fun!
And then there's the rest of the house things.....;) Let's see how motivated I am tomorrow. The girls are back to daycare tomorrow. This is really stinking....I miss my kidlets. I may just decide that what ever isn't done by the end of this week just isn't going to get done. Until spring! Damnit!
Alright, I must eat some dinner. Which reminds me....the whole weight thing/healthy eating? Not going so well right now. If at first you don't succeed......blah, blah, blah. ;)

*Snort!*
I was going over Trent's homework with him tonight. We were yakking about Christopher Columbus...asked him what the names of the boats were. He says "Nina, Tina and the Purina." I shit you not. Thought I was going to die laughing....

These weeks are long anymore....
...I miss my honey at night, I miss him having days off during the week. *Sigh*
The massage was wonderful....I felt so good when I got out of there. I think laying on my stomach for so long helped drain my sinus cavities, which was a welcome relief from the last week.
The kitchen is finally clean, no more sanding dust that I can see. I cannot find marine varnish to seal the floor with though. Wrong time of year I guess. I have to scrub it, then get something on it to seal it until next spring. Hopefully then I will be able to find what I'm looking for. Just need to swap out the light fixture, put a few shelves up and order this and that room will be done. (And a big whoo hoo there, last week it was listed for $119.)
The only thing left to do in the guest/village room is to wash down the walls and get the closet back together, minus the extra crap. I think my crafting things are going in the closet too. I'm turning into one of those gals that has tons of 'stuff', but doesn't do anything with it......
Dining room need some touch up on the walls, and some on the floor too.
The upstairs baseboards is a one day project, but requires two people to do it. We ripped off all the wallpaper and border out of the girls' room the other day. Now what will Maiya do for fun? It's the only other room that really should be gutted and re-drywalled. After Christmas.....
I have a few minor wall repairs to do in our room, then texture paint the ceiling. New light fixture/ceiling fan goes in there too.
So, I think that just leaves a repair to the plaster on the stairway.
I have WHACKED all the outdoor projects (with the exception of leaf raking and putting things away in the garage) until Spring. Yay me! What do I care if the front door is green, and the side door is still gray? I cannot see it unless I go outside, or make a point to drive around the front of the house. ;) What do I care if only a few of the porch uprights have been painted white, and the resat are still gray? Fageddaboutit! I'm starting to live like some sort of hick....
I need to measure 12 windows for shades. Soon. Befor that breakfast cart goes back up in price.
That leaves me from now until the end of May to pull the rest of the garage sale items.
My goal is to have this all done by the end of the month. Chop, chop!
Have a great weekend all!

Pass the Midol please....
.....why does it make me a crying, sappy fool to slow dance with each of my babies? What is it about that simple act that brings out the hysterical in me? My poor kids........their momma is such a fruit loop. I know that Trent will dance with me at his wedding, since it's kind of a tradition, but what about my girls? Will they humor me and do it? Devin laughed at me this morning when I asked her if she would, but then said "Sure." I may have to get this in writing. Maiya just looked at me....
Can you tell it's fall off the roof week?
The sanding is almost done. What a job that was!
Massages and lunch with my honey tomorrow. Yipee!

Is it 8 pm yet? (Maiya's bedtime) No? How abour 8:15 pm? (Devin's bedtime) No again? How about 8:30 pm then? (Trent's bedtime)
DARN IT!! It's only 7:15 pm. I want to sand. I finally rented the big ass orbital sander today to do the kitchen floor. I gave it a little test run out there already. OH. MY. GOD! I cannot wait to have that bitch sanded....it looks so good already. Then I'll just have to varnish it up with some super heavy duty marine varnish.
I started to paint the top edge of the guest/village room today, what a pain. I left the painters tape on too long, so when I pulled it off, it took some paint with it. It is not smooth up there, so I switched back to the border idea. I hauled ass to Meijer and snagged some flowery (not so pretty) border. I really hate buying things like that at Meijer, they look tacky. You get what you pay for, but a trip to the real wallpaper/border place is not in the cards right now. Good thing the ceilings are 10 feet high, maybe it won't look too bad from that far away. ;) I also bought some cream colored Fusion spray paint (the stuff for plastics), to paint the PVC pipes under the bathroom sink. Maybe Dave will be quiet then, he hates looking at those exposed pipes and I'm not ready to tackle a sink skirt. Hopefully if the pipes are cream, they will blend in with the walls.
I grabbed a rotary tool (50% off Whoo Hoo!) to boot. I will finish sanding the edges of the hoosier cabinet with this. I can do the sanding upstairs on the baseboards too. That way I won't have to but quarter round trim for the whole upstairs. Originally I should have sanded the baseboards before the carpet was laid, but that just didn't happen. Now I have an 1/8 of an inch strip of unpainted baseboard that shows. (Silly me, I was thinking the carpet would be high enough to cover it.) Now I can run this tiny sander in there, smooth it out, then slip a bit of paint on it and viola! Besides that....the rotary tool just looks like fun!
I won 2 of these on E-bay the other day.......I got them today. My thought was one for Devin for Christmas, she loves her sewing cards and I watched her weave her belt through a wire shelf that was sitting around the other day. They may be a bit advanced for her right now, but then again, she may just surprise me.
No soccer game today.......Trent's cleats, ball, shin pads, and team shirt are in the car, at work with Dave. Don't even get me started on how it really does pay to empty out the car after each day/outing/event...I'm a big car empty-er, the rest of the family...not so much.
Maiya quacks now, which will come in handy since she is being a duck for Halloween. Every time I tell her to quack at Dave she growls instead.....then laughs herself silly about it.

Wamma Jamma Big Ass Post....
Greetings!
Still sick...think it's allergy related and boy does it suck! I never had problems until a few years ago, and it seems to get worse each year. My head is full, and my voice is gone. I've been running a slight fever though, and have hopped myself up on cold meds so who knows.
Trent-allergy/sinus issues as always. Orthodontist appointment on Wednesday. I need to pull him out of school a few minutes early to get him there on time. He is fast becoming quite the reader. He says that math and science are his favorite subjects in school. He seems to be doing fine on the bus too. The driver called a few weeks ago and had no specific complaints with/about him. I worry/worried about him being picked on, but so far it doesn't seem to be an issue.
Devin-allergy issues right now too, so the allergens must be out in full force. Normally she is my healthiest child, not nearly as many symptoms as the other two. She had preschool today, she loves going. The field trip the other day was a big hit. The firemen actually got called out for a grass fire during our visit there. Now both kids are on me to have the home fire drill. Excellent idea, and we really do need to test out the fire ladder and send them down it once. That way if an emergency ever crops up, they won't balk at the ladder.
Maiya-allergy issues. Sassiness issues, she is trying to hit her siblings and everything is "NONONO!!!" Can you tell she's almost two....? I won't be surprised if someone, somewhere, somehow tries to label her someday. At first I thought it was because she's the third child, and we are lax, then I thought it was because the house isn't childproofed like it was for the other two, then I thought it's because I am old, then I thought well maybe it's because nothing is in it's place, there is too much crap to get in to. But I think it's just her. She flits around non stop all day long. She has the attention span of a mentally deficient gnat. She cycles through here like a tumbleweed......non stop motion. I darn sure don't remember this with the biggies.
Dave-all stressors this week, brought to you by Dave. ;) The job crisis is here again. He left the old place to get top-notch skills at a bigger facility. He has done that now for 6 months. He was just offered and accepted the afternoon shift charge tech position. He just sent off a resume to a hospital closer than where he is now. The new place is a half hour north. It will be getting a permanent MRI magnet sometime in March. The guy there was very interested in talking to him. Then the old job called. He gave them some huge wage figure figuring they would laugh at him. The bigger boss called him back today. And then there is all the talk of working 'travel', for three times the money...the house could be paid off in 3 years going that route. Oy! Glad I'm not him.
The car is acting up again; think it's time to bite off a car payment again. We haven't had one of those for about 2.5 years now. We may be car shopping tomorrow.
And what have I learned lately? That when buying another house, damn sure go for the new construction one. It dawned on me this weekend that I JUST WANT TO CLEAN THE HOUSE!!! JUST CLEAN IT! Not paint it, or spackle it, or knock walls out of it, not drywall it, not roof it, not sand it, not prime it, not wallpaper it, not re-hardware it, not border it, not tile it, not landscape it, not strip it, not any of that shit! I just want to move in, accessorize it, and then clean it. Now the big push is to get Dave to agree to sell this place and move me in to a small trailer on acreage. ;) Wish me luck!
Tomorrow the girls are going to daycare, and then Trent has a make up soccer game at 6 pm. Then on Saturday he has back-to-back games and then he's done for the season. He has really enjoyed it, and he's pretty good at it too.

(All winter gear 45% off)
Happy Tuesday all!

I spent another 174.50 that day on non-grocery things.....wool socks for everyone (25 % off and cheaper than moving south?!?), hunting gloves for me (25% off), and expensive Kitchen Aid can opener that better not turn out to be a POS...so Dave can stop crabbing about the can opener, an unbreakable water bottle for me (I pity the fool who steals or breaks it!!!), a cheese grater, Brita filters, and winter coats for Trent and Devin and snow pants for Trent. (All winter gear 45% off)
Happy Tuesday all!

Oy!
I have hit a wall. The wall. Any wall. Cheese and rice........I can't get my poop in a group. Maybe it's because I woke up today sick, but I can't stand this. I am so tired, and the girls were at day care today. {A double edged sword daycare is sometimes......folks like to make up for those lost hours by sucking the life out of you the minute you pick them up. It's nice to be loved and missed though.} I even took a nap today, still nothing. Nothing to give.
I went shopping yesterday and bought Meijer just about out of produce. Came home and 'sort of' juiced it all. The plan is to throw some of this, and some of this together along with meditation......just in case the rest of that wasn't flaky enough. ;)
Thank heavens it has poured all day (/scarsm), so there was no soccer game tonight. I'm set for the game tomorrow with the cookies, just need to add the water for hot chocolate in the morning. I still need to make a fruit salad for dinner at our friends tomorrow night. I should make that now, but I'm 99.9% sure it won't happen until tomorrow. All bets are off if I still feel this bad tomorrow though...
Off to watch this with the kids now.
Have a good weekend all!

Okay then....
I have scheduled four "Take Your Daughters to Daycare" days. More on this later.
In other news, let's just call off the dieting/healthy eating dogs for now shall we? I believe that I know my limitations. Going to need toshove push back the start date on this.
And now, for a recap.......sucky momma who can't cope lately and eating poorly to boot.
Let's turn this bitch around shall we?

Today I am thankful for:
A whine free hour from Trent this morning while getting ready for school.
Two daughters that actually both slept until 8 am. As opposed to the usual 7 am wake up time for Maiya, and the usual 7:30 am wake up for Devin. Can you see how this normally shapes up into a three different breakfast times kind of system?
A long, hot, uninterrupted shower this morning. Morning I say! Not 2 pm, not 4 pm, actually in the morning so it could help wake and motivate me.
Window shrink wrap. Got the big picture window done today, maybe I won't freeze my arse off this winter. Ha...
____ ____ Glass Company, who for the low, low price of $100 will replace the glass in my storm door inserts. Cutting the woodwork trim out of the middle of the insert in the process. Thereby saving me the pain in the ass job of chinking out all the old putty, putting new putty in, then painting said putty. The woodwork ends up making something like 12 seperate windows as it is now...
Mr Jim. We now have a hole in our wall next to the water softener. This means that the softener can now be piped out below the frost line. Meaning no more frozen water softener every winter when it gets really frigid. Which also means no more crap well water smell, taste, or hardness when it freezes. Which means no more rust stains on dishes, clothes, sinks, toilets, or bathtubs.
A vet/office that I really love. Don't ask Clyde if she loves the vet today though...
Shrimp.
I was cooking fool for some reason today. Four dozen corn muffins, a vat of pinto beans. Sugar cookie dough for Halloween cookies. I think it's because Dave said "I have a pot luck tomorrow..." He can take the beans and cornbread, I was going to make some chili too, but petered out. The Halloween cookies will do double duty. We are scheduled to be the snack people for Trent's soccer game Saturday......they will get hot chocolate and cookies. Then the rest of the cookies will go with us to a friends house after the game. The baking and decorating will take place tomorrow.
Tomorrow is also field trip day for Devin. She could not be more excited. We (Dave, Devin and myself) are going to the Fire Department and to McDonalds afterwards with the preschool group. Dave gets to drive seperate and leave after the Fire Dept. to head for work. I get to ride the bus...yay! ;) If I'd have been more on the ball, we'd be taking some cookies to the Fire Dept. We will still do that sometime this fall.
Placed two ads in the paper today, one to sell the boat and one to advertise a crop at the hall on the 23rd. Let the scrapping begin!

Motivation....where art thou?
It's missing today.
Finished up the closet, made dinner...that's about it today. Besides the usual......loading/unloading the dishwasher, laundry, some village work. I think it's a good day to hit the hay early, and hope for the best tomorrow.
Everyone here is running sinus symptoms, it's just a matter of time before they all end up at the Dr.'s.
Dinner was: Swiss steak with egg noodles, carrots and dump cake. I use cherry pie filling, and throw some nuts on. Top that with Cool-Whip...yummy!

Weekend Cliff Notes...
...Yesterday: Painting the guest room closet, out to the movies to see Ladder 49, DQ (?!?), Soccer game for Trent...they won 7-0.
Today: More painting, only thing left is the shelves, Applebees for lunch (?!?), Playscape, DQ (?!?...gawd help me, looks like salads the rest of this week. Darn good thing the place closed today until February.), family meeting where chores and allowances were FINALLY instituted for the kidlets. Been meaning to do that for at least the last year. Hopefully it will bring about some maturity, some responsibility and shut down some of this whining...
Waiting for Dave to get home from hockey so we can eat dinner. (Salad, what else? ;) He is yakking about job hunting again....help me!
Quote of the day~ "I can't wait for Thanksgiviness!"~Devin

Happy Birthday Shannon!!!
I have 3 best friends...Dave, Shannon and Kerry. Today is Shannon's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOTHER!!! :) XOXO. Shannon is the only one of the three that knows all my secrets....and she still loves me. I miss my friend. Four months after Dave and I got married we moved north, leaving our friends behind. The next year, Shannon moved to Las Vegas. It's been 4 years since I've seen her in person, I really need to do something about that. Shanny, or "Mother", since she's such a mother hen and had her babies first, is a beautiful, giving, upbeat and wonderful being. When I grow up, I want to be just like her. She reads the blog, but hasn't commented yet.....very unlike her not to say anything. ;) Today is also her son's birthday, he is her miracle little man....a cancer survivor. I thank God for blessing me with my friend.
Here we are in some 1996 pictures......I sense a trend in them.....why am I always on her? Save a friend, ride a cowboy. ;)
I love you Mother, happy, happy day to you and Andrew!!!
