Memorial Day

Saturday....hit some garage sales in the morning, then took the kids to see Shrek 2. Had 'manner' issues again. What gives? Trent is something lately, need to figure out if it's time to buckle down harder, or lighten up a bit... Hit some more garage sales after the movie. Ended up with:

A picnic basket, a 14# bag of fabrics, 2 glass jars and lids to go with my collection, a set of queen sized flannel sheets (Is this gross? I'm starting to think it is....need to do a week-long bleach and oxyclean soak, then decide for sure.), a seat for Maiya that hooks onto the table (to use in place of her highchair), a dress, two black skirts (one short, one long), a pogo stick for Devin, a pair of Levi shorts for Dave, a Pilates exercise tape, a Pippy Longstocking full-length movie for the kids, and 4 packages of baby clothes patterns.....all for exactly $20.

Went out for dinner that night and came home to watch Pippy. I petered out around 9 pm. Must have needed some sleep, because I didn't get up until 7 am.

Yesterday was a funky, funky day. As in my mood, felt like I was in a tailspin. It was rainy and dreary to boot. We ended up putting the garden in, Dave did most of it. I have one empty section to fill when I decide what I want to plant there. We have corn, assorted squash, assorted beans, assorted peas, tomatoes, zucchini, cukes, parsley, basil, oregano, catnip, onions, leaf lettuce, okra, lots of assorted peppers, and melons. Lots of things we didn't plant this year for some reason. Dave made dinner and we hit the DQ afterwards. We grabbed 5 movies to watch, that all have to go back today. I need to get up and go finish watching LOTR/Return of the King, I petered out again last night. I can't wait for this cold/sinus deal to be gone....

It is rainy and dreary again today, a good day for movies and bowling if the alley is open. I'm going to throw a chicken in the crock pot in a little bit.

I think that I'm going to start getting up later in the morning...maybe that will help me as far as the evenings and my motivation are concerned. I guess It really isn't necessary to get up at the butt-crack of dawn. I do need to get at least one cup of coffee in me before the kids get up, but I can accomplish that by getting up at 7:30 too. Then I think we will all pitch in with the daily chores. I never did get around to nailing down specific chores for Trent to collect an allowance. I think a chore check-off chart and a "No playing outside or watching TV before the chores are done" rule may be what we need here for this summer.

I think that most of the funk is coming from lack of progress around here. The daily activities of life in general with three kids isn't allowing time for these home projects. The projects are big ones, so they require an amount of time be set aside, preferably uninterrupted (bwhahahahaha!!!), to get them done. Painting, sanding, border application, floor stripping, floor tile grout scrubbing and sealing, etc. Both Trent and Devin are going to Safety Town this year, so that will free up a little time each day for 2 weeks. I plan to have Dave take them and pick them up, so that will be a 2.5 hour span each day to get things going. Maiya can sit in the exersaucer and supervise. :) I have this uncontrollable need to feel "caught up", and that isn't happening. I realize I'll never be caught up until the kids are grown, and I don't want to put the house before them, but I really need just one room around here to be complete. Need to look at small pieces of the house puzzle, rather than the big picture. Baby steps....wish me luck! ;)

Does a family of five sound like a lot? I didn't used to think so, but the more dishes I load into the dishwasher, the more clothes I wash, the more crap I pick up....I'm just beginning to wonder. I don't know how mothers who have oodles of kids do it. It just seems so never ending, and frankly I'm plain tuckered at the end of the day. Nothing left to give. Not even for myself. Is it the clerk job? The fact that I get up around 5:30 every morning? The age of my kidlets? My work ethic? (gah!) My age? Am I vitamin deficient? I'd feel much better if it was something uncontrollable that caused me to be so pooped, and not my motivation. What to do....what to do about it? I shall ponder it this evening, suggestions/comments/tips/tricks also welcome.....

Dave too the kids to the ped's today. I swear to gawd I hate that back up ped...sent Trent home with some Zyrtec. The boy has a sinus infection. I've already scheduled him to go back next week to see his regular ped when she's back from vacation. We may have to go with the allergy shots for him. Devin got swabbed for strep, which came back negative but it's at the lab for the two-day result. She was complaining of a sore throat, and a sore nose this morning. She had absolutely no color in her face or lips, she was quite scary looking. Then she hurled once. Ahhhhh, the joy. On the up side, Maiya is healthy for the moment. Knock. On. Wood.

Got a boatload of village checks done this morning, then went to "The Shop" and got my hair deep conditioned and trimmed. Hopped in the tanner for 5 minutes, oh how I miss that. Skin cancer causing thing that it is...

Had a *playdate* here after school, and got the canopy up over top Maiya's play area. I meant to wash the rest of the porch every day this past week I think. I bought a brush that hooks up to the hose so it should be a lot easier now. The plan was to have the porch ready by this weekend in case I scored some porch furniture while yard sale-ing.

This weekend will include:
Hitting the yard sales tomorrow morning.
Taking the biggies to see Shrek tomorrow afternoon.
Getting the porch washed at some point.
Getting the garden planted.
Doing village payroll.
Hopefully working on the bathroom at little.
Bowling.
Playscape.
General yard work.

I'm thinking that should be enough...have a great weekend everyone! :)

Things I have learned today:

*Drywall is not good to rototill into the garden, no matter what the neighbor and Dave say.
*It really is okay to take a nap. No need to explain or rationalize it.
*Maiya is not going to be happy or quiet until she climbs back into my uterus.
*There is a time and a place for everything. Now is not the time and place to worry about hanging clothes to dry in the name of frugality, or shopping each weekly sale to save money. Sometimes time is more important.
*You can never have too many boxes of Kleenex in the house.
*If you take the baby gates down, Maiya will dump the pet bowls. Every. Time. And get into the garbage.
*When the momma is sick, so is at least one child.

Catch up time!

Saturday...........seems like I cleaned up around here and tried to keep the kidlets semi-quiet while Dave slept. He worked a double that day before. I did the meeting minutes, and some more piddley village stuff. Around 5 pm, we got on the road to General Jim's to snag Trent a new 'camping hat.' The camping hats are camouflage, have huge brims all the way around and keep my kiddies from getting sunburned faces and ears. Trent had outgrown his, so he got a bigger one and baby M got his. Then we went to dinner at The Doherty. Great food there, although the kids needed to be reminded of their manners more than usual. Probably had something to do with the fact that Shrek was playing right across the street, and they could see the line up of people...

Sunday......... we attempted to have Dave take the biggies to see Shrek, while Maiya and I went shopping. Wasn't meant to be though, they were sold out when we got there. We all went shopping instead.

Monday.........back to the daily grind. The power hour in the morning is starting to wear on me. Must be because I know we only have two more weeks of school. Started getting sick this day...sore throat, swollen glands, blah, blah, blah. Bonus this day...migraine! Screwed myself by not having any Imitrex on hand. I really know better than that....ended up at Rite Aid with all 3 kids in tow. Of course, there was a snafu with the insurance card..."We are waiting for your insurance company to call back..." Ugh! They ended up taking pity on me I guess and handed me one nasal spray and sent me on my way. Gawd love them!

Tuesday......date day!! Whoo hoo. Girls went to daycare, Dave and I went to see Van Helsing. It was pretty good......I wanted to see Troy, but we wouldn't have been back in time to pick up Trent. Brad Pitt, Trent, Brad Pitt, Trent...lol! Went to Rite Aid, picked up the rest of the Imitrex, grabbed gift certificates for Trent's teachers from a restaurant, hit the store to drop off film for developing and get Trent a small graduation present and card. Went to Pizza Hut for dinner, then off to the kindergarten graduation program. The program was wonderful, all the kids did such a good job with their songs. I only cried a little so that was a bonus.

Today...migraine day. Fun, fun, and more fun. Nipped this one early enough to salvage most of the day though. Finished the new template, got more village work done, and tried to do some yardwork. Need bigger pants.....

My forum exile is going better than I thought it would. I can't say I've got a whole bunch done this week, but the laundry is completely caught up and I have managed to get a fair amount of village work done. So, I will continue it.

Gah! I'm dying to blog...

Friday, May 21, 2004 @ 8:27 PM

I want today to end. Ever had days like that? Not even just for the kids to go to bed so the 'work day' is over, but to just go to bed early to get on with the next day. I'm feeling kinda grumpy, I fell off the roof, (thanks Pez for that saying...), it feels like it's been overcast or raining for a week now. What else....? The hover disks that the kids were playing with got them all would tight as tops........Maiya is a crabby 'lil thing lately. Just bring on tomorrow already! Fresh slate, new leaf, yada, yada, yada...

Hit a garage sale today on the way back from the vets. I love being the lucky recipient of other peoples' "stuffitis".....I scored a barely used 18 speed mountain bike for myself, cherry red for $20, including the helmet. I hate to replace my trusty old 10 speed. That. I. Got. When. I. Was. Twelve!!! Cripes, I'm overdue I'd say. Also got a nice long skinny pine table/plant stand for $5, a set of 5 exercise tapes for $5, and a hydraulic stepper machine for $1. Whoo Hoo! I may go back tomorrow and see if the treadmill is still there.

Grabbed lime for the garden today too. Can't wait until Memorial weekend to plant everything! Speaking of which, I should probably pull the plants inside tonight....or leave them. Toughen them up.

Is the new blog too hard on the eyes you think?

Have a splendid weekend everyone!

@ 3:42 PM

Got kids? Get these. Best $20 plus S & H I've spent lately.

Seem to have misplaced my mo-jo today. Took the cat to the vets. Argued with Dave. Changed the floodlight on the garage fixture. Unloaded the dishwasher and made dinner (that we eat at lunch time...) Looks like I'll be a working fool later on tonight to make up for the slow day.

Thursday, May 20, 2004 @ 8:57 PM

Another fun day....fishing was good, and we didn't get rained on. Thank goodness the place was only 45 minutes away by school bus. Heh. Too much longer on that bus and I would have been done for. Dave was a big hit on the playground after lunch, as the "Giant" trying to catch little kids.

Noticed Maiya was spiking a pretty good temp when I picked her up from daycare. Thought I had Tylenol here at home. Oops. Had to load us all back into the truck at head for the Rite Aid. Gave her a shot of Motrin, and she was right as rain. So much so that she didn't want to settle down and go to sleep. Grabbed some movies while we were out.....the Russell Crow one and a Batman,(with Batwoman) that the kids and I already watched. I guess Dave and I will watch the other one tomorrow before he goes to work.

Tomorrow Devin is the "Helper of the Day", which means that she is also the "Special Kid of the Day." I'm thinking these titles are going to work out pretty well. Tomorrow will be the first actual day for this. She will be helping me take Clyde to the vet's for shots.

Not sure what else we will be doing tomorrow. I need to get started on the meeting minutes at some point. We also need to keep going on the porch/siding washing. It feels really good to be getting some stuff done, but yet still having fun. And best of all....keeping that obsessive, anal wench that is my alter-ego, at bay. There is so much to do around here, but yet I'm pacing myself even with the decreased forum/computer time. The other/old me would be going balls out around here, at the expense of everyone and everything else.

I wish I had some ER to watch tonight...since a storm rolled in and chased me off the front porch. Actually got too cold and dark to drink alone and read. Poor me! ;)

@ 6:50 AM

Forgot to add that I had to have the "We DO NOT pee outside in front of God and everyone" speech yesterday. Again. For Devin's sake. Trent was smart enough to know better this time, or else smart enough to put his sister up to it again.

A day in the life...
Mayberry-USA

5:30 am~ Woke up, put the coffee on and surfed the blogs.
6 am~ Pulled the village stuff out and got the bills into their envelopes, ready to mail. Went through meeting leftovers, pulling out what I needed for the records. Pitched the rest.
6:45~Laundry called me, bitch that she is!
7 am~ Got the kiddies up, dressed, fed, cleaned up, teeth brushed, hair brushed.
8 am~ Shuttled Trent off to school.
8:30~ Laundry calls again...does she ever shut up?
9 am~ Loaded up the girls and took them to their Dr. appointment.
11 am~ Got out of the Dr.'s FINALLY. Allergies for Devin, allergies and head cold for Maiya. No shortage of allergens and green snot around here I tell ya.
11:30 am~ Got home and started the water to boil for mac and cheese. Put all the garden plants outside to sun. Headed to the general store with the girls and placed a lunch meat order. Left there and went to the post office. Got back to general store and grabbed the goods. Got home and did lunch.
12:30 pm~ Put Maiya down for a nap, popped in an hour movie for Devin.
".....Busy people, busy people...working hard all over town. Busy when the sun comes up, busy when the sun goes down....."
12:45 pm~ Input the village receipts, made some copies.
1:30pm~ Got Maiya up, nap was way to short today! Laundry yelling. Again.
2:15 pm~ Got Devin helmeted and biked up, Maiya strollered. Walked 3/4 of a mile down to the campground to drop off reservation money. Walked half a mile from there to the school to pick up Trent. Walked 1/4 mile home, hitting the general store again.
3:30 pm~ Grabbed some fudgesicles and headed over to the neighbors to visit, since she hollered to us to come on over.
4:30 pm~ Drug everyone home against their will so I could put Maiya back down for a nap.
5 pm~ Thought about making dinner. Did more laundry instead. Watered the garden plants.
5:30 pm~ Got Maiya up, made dinner.
6:30 pm~ Sat with Maiya, who couldn't cope. Lots of thrashing around and me trying to soothe her.
6:45 pm~ Put Maiya back to bed, for the night this time.
7 pm~ Took Trent, Devin and some cookies next door to introduce ourselves to the new neighbors. Chatted with them outside for a few minutes.
7:15 pm~ Came home, packed 5 lunches for tomorrow. Three for Trent, Dave and myself for the school fishing field trip. Two for Devin and Maiya for their "field trip" to Miss Pam's house. *Wink* Devin doesn't like feeling left out, so she is "going on a field trip too.." Had 2 cups of coffee on the front porch while the kids played. Painted my nails. Watched the other neighbor give the kids rides on the (riding) lawn mower.
8 pm~ Cleaned up outside, shooed the kids in for baths.
8:30 pm~ Told the rest of the laundry to "Shut the hell up" and leave me alone...
9 pm~ Went outside to pick mint leaves for mint juleps. Made mint syrup.
9:15 pm~ Got the kidlets to bed. Late night for them compared to normal...
9:45 pm~ Waiting for the mint syrup to cool and blogging.
10 pm~ Getting ready to drink my first ever mint julep. :)

Tuesday, May 18, 2004 @ 7:59 PM

What a grand day!!!

First off....I did nothing village related. Way to learn my lesson on procrastination huh? ;)
Second off, I woke up with a migraine but was able to kick that little f&%#er right square in the ass.
Thirdly, the house no longer resembles some sort of hurricane lane.....Dave said this morning that he thought we had been "ransacked" last night when he got home from work. Also that he had ".....never seen the house look like that...." Okay already, I get it. Thanks..... Let me tell you something about the Flylady 15 minute rule though. When there are 11 rooms to tackle at least 15 minutes a pop, that is an awfully full morning. Never mind the fact that you are supposed to take a 15 minute break every 45 minutes. Had I done that, it would have stretched my work load out to 3.5 hours. It took me long enough without breaks today to get this hell-hole straightened up. I got all the kidlets up at 7am, and did the breakfast, dressing, washing, brushing gig. Herded everyone into the car at 8 am, took Trent to school then took the chicklets to Sue's. Came home 8:45 and and jumped in feet first. Got the living room, computer room, play room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and storage room squared up. Straightened up yesterdays mess on the front porch too. Did a countless amount of laundry. Left at 11 am to grab Burger King for lunch.

Went to lunch with Trent and Dave at school. I had a blast! I told Trent this morning that I would be bringing his lunch later, but he knew nothing of the BK and mom and dad. He was pretty nervous walking down the hallway with his teacher, since I hadn't shown up with his lunchbag. His little face just LIT up when he saw us. He got such a big goofy grin on his face when he realized we were there to have lunch with him. He sat in between us and told us all the lunchroom rules. After lunch he wanted us to go to recess with him too, even though I tried to talk him out of that. He insisted, so we went and played ball with him and 27 other kids. When it was time for us to go, and for him to go back to class, he kissed us over and over and kept telling us how much fun he had. It was wonderful. Tonight when I put him to bed, he wanted to talk about lunch and recess all over again, for the 12th time today. :) Ahhhhhh....so sweet.

Dave an I left there and hit the grocery store for dog food and the gas station. Then we had ice cream from the general store. Then Dave shoved off to work and I tackled the upstairs. Got the girls' room straightened up, clothes put away, sheets changed, trundle bed back in place. Got clothes put away in our room and the bed made. I managed to get Trent's clothes put away before it was time to go pick him up.

After I picked him up from school, we headed to Family Dollar for storage boxes. The playroom looks like a helicopter landed in there (at least it did before this morning...) with games and toys everywhere. I cleaned up the toys, but just set all the game crap aside. I need to box things up someday this week. We picked up Devin nd Maiya and headed out to dinner. Came home, did baths, changed Trent's sheets and tucked them all in for the night.

I'm still working on laundry right now, but getting ready to punch out soon. Think I'll sit on my arse and read more of The Story of My Father. I'm really liking this book, must be the nursing home working nurse in me.

I think I've figured out why Maiya is such a little cling bunny. She is the only one of the three that has no 'snuggie', no little square of flannel blanket to drag around as a security object. The same squares of flannel blanket are here. And there. In her toy basket. She just never latched on to one, or I never used it as a comfort object for her like I did with Trent and Devin. I am her security object I think. Which is fine. Except when I need to leave the room. Or pee. Or make dinner. Especially when I leave her in the same room with Dave and she still has a cow, or an even bigger cow than if I would have left her alone. It's great to be so loved...*sigh*...

Monday, May 17, 2004 @ 10:07 PM

Wow! Never wait till the last day to try to get the village stuff done. Oy vey! Nightmare city.......I was still running copies of stuff at 6 pm for a 7 pm meeting. And had three kidlets to get off to daycare. And got no dinner out of the deal. And missed the soccer sign up for Trent. Whew! Glad the meeting is over. Just had a McDonald salad, yum. And an oreo McFlurry before that. More yum.

This house is a total disaster..........there are toys flung far and wide, that is so not like the house normally. I have got my work cut out for me tomorrow. Devin and I managed to wash half of the porch today. Wrap around front parch, white vinyl siding and 'ceiling', doesn't look huge until you start scrubbing.

Tomorrow is daycare day for the girls, if they are healthy enough. Maiya is sounding terrible. She has an appointment for Wednesday, Devin does too but she is sounding a little better. Dave and I are going to surprise Trent at school for lunch. We are taking him a happy meal and having lunch with him. :) Only 13 more days of school. His "stepping on" (kindergarten graduation) program is the 25th of this month. I am so going to cry.

A good time was had by all yesterday at the ballgame. How can you not have fun when you have hotdogs, and ice cream, and cotton candy....? A regular little eating fest it was for the kids. Then Aunt Kerry was here when we got home. Bonus. The kids love her to death and vice versa. Everyone slept like big dogs last night! :)

Off to bed, I need my strength (and about three other peoples to boot...) for tomorrow.

Sunday, May 16, 2004 @ 6:56 AM

The SIL is gone. Yay! She left yesterday morning. I got nothing done village wise while she was here, I couldn't have been more behind by the time she left. Dave stayed up until 6 am yesterday after he got home at midnight. They were up chatting, so I shooed Dave upstairs to sleep while the biggies watched a movie up there and Maiya napped. I managed to get my resolution done, budget comparisons run off, sorted, stapled and into each persons packet of stuff. Coded some bills, and made up the agenda.

I also managed to Febreeze all the rugs and vacuum every nook and cranny in here. Smells a bit better today, but the humidity isn't as high as it's been lately. I'm hesitatant to steam clean them, since the hardwood floors were never finished/sealed under the rugs, just around the edges. Odd as that is. What I really need is new rugs. Big ones.....a 9 X 12 minimum for the living room, 8.5 X 12 min for the computer/village room, 9 X 12 min for the playroom, and a 7.5 X 12 min for the dining room. So unless money starts flying out of my butt, that won't be happening for awhile. Even if we buy clearance/roll ends from Home Depot and have the edges bound, that would still be pretty pricey. I need to get some hardwood people out here for quotes on redoing the floors though. Maybe if we get the whole floor done, instead of the edges in each room I could go with smaller area rugs. Seems odd to lay on the living room floor and watch TV with no rug though. I wonder if I need to go to work at the nursing home a few days a month for the extra cash........that is usually how and when I work there anymore. Money for new windows, money for that third (SURPRISE) baby, etc. Hmmmmmm. I don't want to spend my summer working. I am so bad...

We went to Home Depot yesterday at 5 pm, that is the time that Dave finally got "moe-toe-vated"...lol! Restocked my lightbulb collection, we were down to none, and needed to change two. I also bought my garden plants. This is the first time I have really bought a ton of stuff. I usually start them all from seed. I just want to reap more this year so this should help. The regular peas and the snap peas that Devin and I planted a few weeks ago are coming up and looking great. Our flower seeds are popping up too. I need to move my horseradish plant out of the garden and into a contained something. It grows like a weed and takes over everything I guess. I got that root from the neighbor last year. Can't wait to have my own fresh horseradish on roast and corned beef. Yum! I was going to make mint julep syrup yesterday, from my mint, and have some drinks today but I forgot. It says it should sit overnight. Guess I'll be drinking alone this week at night instead. ;) I wonder why I don't drink more. I enjoy a good drink. I had one the other night. Maybe it would help my disposition...lol!

We went out for dinner after we got done at HD, that was a mistake. Except I knew it wasn't a good idea. I had said to Dave..."How about two of those $5 Little Ceasers pizzas....?" Oh those kids of ours made us wish we had gotten pizza and taken it home. Trent has been such a little 'bass-tard' lately. Mouthy, not listening, talking back. Oy! We had a little talk last night before he went to bed. So hopefully today he'll be "working on his manners...", and I'll be "trying not to have to act like a crazy momma yelling at you..." :) We'll see. Otherwise I'll be needing to make a bigger impact and tell him we aren't going to the Whitecaps game today. Ouch. That would not be pretty, but I'm pretty sure it would go a long way towards helping his attitude.

I should have been scrapping yesterday.....my friend Heidi from MAPT invited me to town hall for a 24 hour scrapping deal. It started yesterday at noon and ends today. I actually forgot about it up until yesterday when she asked me again. Oops! I think that I may start using the hall for that reason though too. Not a 24 hour run, but a day here and there. Might post it at the store and post office, run a little add in the paper and see what happens. Sounds fun to me.

I've placed myself on a computer ban...actually a forum ban I guess. I'm allowing myself e-mail and blogs at this point. I'm overwhelmed lately, not enough time in the day for things and I'm pretty sure that's due to the computer. I'm no June Cleaver, or my mom, but somedays I wonder how they did it. I can rationalize all I want....I have 3 kids that are 6 and under, I have a work at home job, I have a Dh that does not pitch in, I'm old and tired, etc.
Some of that is valid, some...not so much. Yes, I have three kids 6 and under. One goes to school from 8 to 3. I don't have to drive him there, we walk. It's a quarter mile, round trip so it really doesn't take long. None of them are doing after school activities/sports right now. No extra time taken up there. And that leaves me with only two at home from 8-3.
The work at home job is valid I think. It requires a bit of attention just about every day throughout the month. Then it requires a lot of attention about 5 days before the meeting. Also lots of attention for about 5-7 days after the meeting. It didn't used to feel like it was so time consuming, except I finally figured out why. The deputy clerk was still doing lots of things to help and train me. It's pretty much all me now....which is fine, just different.
The Dh that doesn't pitch in......what can I say there that doesn't sound like whining? He works full-time so I can stay home. He mows the lawn. He plays with the kids inside. And outside if I help him 'moe-toe-vate' off his hiney. See? Whiney....;)
Old and tired......this much is true! Ha. I get at least 8 hours a sleep most nights so this shouldn't be a problem. I do need to get back to drinking my water. This goes miles towards helping me feel better. Getting some exercise sure wouldn't hurt either. I need to commit to getting on the bike and hitting the trail everyday, since Dave is home during the mornings.
I think it boils down to poor use of my time anymore. The house still needs some sort of work in just about every room to boot. I swore I was not going to spend my whole summer working on shit like last summer (the roof!) Trent only has summers off, I'm not putting him on ignore to do house crap. I will not take advantage of his childhood. I will be a part of it. This goes for all of them. Yes I am home. But from now on I want to be home and 'available' if that makes sense. I'm not totally unavailable right now, but I see room for improvement. Wish me luck! Much as I hate (lol) to do it, I'm going back to crazyFlylady. ;)

Happy Sunday everyone!

Hmmmmmm........I wait, and wait, and wait for this time of year to get here, every year.....then I wonder why. The house was built in 1894 as far as we can tell. It has been lived in. Lots of years, lots of use, lots of smells. Spring is here, the warm weather is here and the humidity is on the rise. Just enough to give the house that godawful 'lived in' smell. Once the A/C is on, it disappears, but it's not that warm yet. Doesn't help to have pets in here. Dave says it doesn't stink....poppycock I say.

Dave's sister got here last night, so I didn't get a whole lot of village stuff done due to entertaining. I managed to get some done today, but I'm in the process of making stuff for the Relay For Life bake sale too. Devin is a tad sick today, I made her an appointment for tomorrow, just so we wouldn't get screwed since the weekend is a'coming. Hopefully she'll be a bit better tomorrow and I can cancel. If not she goes at 2 pm, and Trent has a dentist appointment at 3:30 pm. Yikes! That means I'll have to pull Trent out of school at 1:30 so we can get to where we need to be by 2 pm. Anywhoo, lots more to do village wise. And my nails! My heavens, my poor nails. I started filing them on Tuesday, they are still half filed and need to be filled. My toes are looking up at me daily and wondering when they will be getting some love too....;)

Tomorrow I need to make an appointment for the cat to go to the vets. Also, hit the town hall and look for missing paperwork, take the bake sale stuff, and take in some film for developing. I thought about grabbing some rental movies, but I'm thinking that's not such a good idea.

This weekend we will be buying the garden plants (guess I should figure out what I want to plant exactly...) and hitting a baseball game on Sunday.

The differences between city and country living:
City:
A spring rain smells like a spring rain, and steaming cement.
Airplanes are ever present.
And trains.
And traffic.
There is the thrill of the 'in-and-out' weaving traffic for the race car drivers at heart. (Who, me?)
It's hard to speed at times.
Coffees at Panera are $3.75 a pop.
You can smell lawn fertilizer.
And freshly mowed grass.
It's very bright. Even at night.
It's way to easy to spend money.
There are lot a trees that have purple flowers.
And lots of weeping willows.
And pussy willows.
There are a few lilac bushes here and there, but no wafting smell of lilacs.

Country:
A spring rain smells like earth.
Airplanes are a rare occurrence that we relish.
There are no trains here.
And little traffic.
And even less 'in-and-out' thrill driving.
It's always easy to speed.
Coffee doesn't come 'fancy', and it's cheap too.
The only fertilizer you smell comes straight from the cow. And is dumped on every field and in every garden this time of year. Moo.
When it rains, that smell is rejuvenated.
The smell of freshly mowed grass is infrequent. Nobody waters the lawn in the country.
It's dark. Pitch dark. So dark that the sky is a wonder to look at when the stars are out. Or the harvest moon.
Bats will fly right past your head on your front porch.
It's harder to spend money in the country.
And even harder to find a gas station on every corner.
There are no restaurants that deliver.
And the ones that are here, are few and far between.
There are no drive-through party stores.
There are cattails growing everywhere.
The frogs chirp their asses off every night.
And the birds do the same every morning. Starting at 5 am. Even when you ask them nicely not to, because there are about 106, 473 of them right outside the bedroom window.
There are lilac bushes everywhere. Dark purple, reddish, white, light purple. And you can smell them when you drive past them all spring long.

Okay. Trying again tonight.

Weekend was T. I. R. I. N. G. Maiya thought it was time to be wide awake when we got down there. At 2 am. Yikes! She kept me up until 4, and the biggies were up at 7 am. Dave handled the breakfast for my mom and me on Mother's Day, and took care of the kidlets all day. Yay! I'm calling my new Sizzix, Stack II, and Alpha Stax's my gifts. Trent wrote out the card from all of them.....awwwww, so sweet!

Got to sleep in yesterday, until 9:30 am. Yay Dave, you rock.....felt like crap all day though. Think I'm having an adverse reaction to the antibiotics. Haven't taken any of them today.

Got the call from the salon today. No job offer. She said "The acrylic was awful..." I'm saying "WHAT?!?!?!?" "The smell.....gosh I'm just not used to it anymore. The nails you did were great, I just not willing to deal with the smell at this time.." Okey dokey. Duh! The shit stinks. Bad. Always has. I asked them last week at the interview if they were vented to the outside, since this is one of my big concerns. They were not. While I was doing the nails they actually came in and plugged in two different air purifiers. Not going to help people. I feel bad in an odd sort of way that I didn't get it though. Who likes rejection......

Trent told me the other day that I needed to fold the clothes better. When I asked him why that was, he said because lots of his clothes come back inside out. Bwhahahaha!!!

I need to find some motivation. Tomorrow I think. ;) Dave's sister is coming here at some point tomorrow and staying for a few days. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I need to make some pink breast cancer awareness cookies for a Relay for Life bake sale this weekend, need to get in the attic and find the summer clothes, and I really need to get my poop in a group for the meeting next Monday. Argh! Way behind on village stuff. What I really want to do is just play on the computer though, and figure out my new template with Katie's help.....

Okay. I lost that last freakin' post. Screw it for now!

Friday, May 07, 2004 @ 8:26 PM

Whew. What a day.

Took Trent to the allergist, nothing really new to report.
Dropped some stuff off at the auditors.
Gassed up the car.
Grabbed KFC for lunch.
Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher.
Cleaned up the kitchen.
Finished up the laundry.
Baked 12 dozen chocolate chip cookies.
Had N----- over for a dreaded playdate.
Had company over.
Had the dog picked up.
Packed for our weekend.
Gave all three kids baths.
Cut Trent's hair.
Cut Devin's bangs.
Took the Mother's day card and birthday gift next door.
Went to the post office.
Had the auditor here to drop off papers.

Need to do some last minute things, then throw everyone in the car and go pick up Dave. He'll do the driving the rest of the way downstate.

Happy Mother's Day to all. Enjoy your weekends. :) See you all Sunday night.

Finished the Mother's Day cards today. Finished the birthday gift for the neighbor. Had the kids do thank-you cards for the daycare ladies. Bought candy for them and delivered it to both places. Got the laundry completely caught up. Took the girls out for a long walk this morning. Vacuumed. Unloaded, reloaded and ran the dishwasher. Cleaned up the hotspots around here. Made sloppy joes for dinner. Didn't get paid for it tonight...lol! Guess Devin doesn't pay for things she doesn't like. ;)

Trent has no school tomorrow. He goes to the allergist. I need to cut his hair, pack for all of us, do village stuff, drop the dog off at the vets, do my toes, fix one nail, and probably pick Dave up from work at 11 pm and drive downstate from there.

I bought a Sizzix the other day....wish I had more time to play with it. Wish I had more dies too. I only bought the snowflake, but that's because I know I'm going back to Michaels this weekend. Probably on Saturday and Sunday. Happy Mother's Day to me.

ER time....

Feeling a bit better today. Still tired, but I think that's more from a 6 y/o toss-o-matic in my bed last night. Power went out and Mr. Toughie (not) was scared. They don't ask very often to get in, so I can't refuse.

Nails went good today. A full set of pink and whites.......pretty tall order there. Took me a half hour less than what I said it would take me so that's good. And they looked good. I rock when it comes to nails. Wish I rocked like that 24/7 when it comes to mothering......or house cleaning.....

The lady who has had such an ordeal at our cemetery called me last weekend. She left a very nice thank-you message on the machine for me. Then today I got a card from her too, thanking me again. I thought that was just way too nice of her. Granted I went out of my way for her, but her husband's funeral and after care has really been a comedy of errors. None of it the Village's fault, but I really felt the need to make it right for this lady. I just want to hunt her down (I've never met the woman..) and give her a big old hug!

Devin paid me for her dinner tonight. Hahahaha.......they really liked the way they were able to serve themselves up buffet style at the table tonight. Devin said it was like a restaurant and went upstairs to get some change from her piggy-bank for me. How funny is she?

Maiya bunny is soooo damn sweet lately. Finally, finally giving kisses when asked. Hugs too. She'll hug me and pat my back. Of course she grabs everything she sees now and says "Mine!"

Trent is feeling better now with a weeks worth of antibiotic under his belt. He goes back to the allergist this Friday for a follow up.

We started our mothers day craft project today. Lots of paint and lots of under my breath cussing there.......we are making 4 painted/decorated/cardstock purse cards. We also started the birthday present for Mr Jim next door....we still need to do something for our daycare ladies. Daycare provider appreciation day is Friday. Got teacher appreciation day done yesterday. I am working my ass off right before mothers day.

I don't even get to spend my Mothers day at home......waaaaa! We have to drive downstate again, hate doing that two weekends in a row. Dave's brother in law is graduating from law school. We are going out to dinner at an Indian place (caca!) on Saturday night. Then I guess I'll give my mom a pedicure on Sunday and we'll drive home. Fun. This is after being fuc screwed out of the GLMM which I was supposed to be going to tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. Next year baby.....

Tuesday, May 04, 2004 @ 8:34 PM

Greetings!

The weekend was good. The game was bad. Yzerman's injury was bad. The dinner afterwards with friends was good. The birthday party for my nephew on Sunday was good. The weather was bad. The drive home was long.

So yesterday I was sooo tired all day long. Had to deal with the village auditors again. Managed to get a little laundry done and that was about it all day. Went to bed at the same time as the kids.....7:30 pm. Yikes!

Got up today, made Dave take Trent to school and take the girls to daycare. I went and got flowers for Teacher Appreciation Day and went to an interview. Nail tech job. Not sure why I did that......don't really need to go to work, and sure don't want to work more than once a week. If it were a money thing, doing nails is not the way to remedy it......trotting down to the nursing home and playing nurse is. Guess I just miss doing nails. So tomorrow I go back to do a full set of nails on the massage gal so they can see my work. Went to the Dr.'s too. Sinus infection. Meds are good. Hope to be feeling better soon. I do not know how Trent does this. As many sinus infections as he gets. Granted he isn't holding down the fort, cooking, cleaning and taking care of small kids, but that doesn't lessen the pain in his head any....

Saturday, May 01, 2004 @ 5:59 AM

Good Saturday morning!!!

I should be packing. I should be getting the kids up. I should be having sex. I should be getting ready to go. Yet here I sit. ;) Forums are down anyways.........

Yay! We have insurance again today. Wish I was going to the Dr.'s today.

Okay....really need to go. Have a great weekend everyone. Congrats to you Roni, on this the big day. :)
