Closing up Shop

Poor neglected blog!
Time to call it quits. Need to get back to doing the written journal. Also, maybe doing something with the family website I actually paid for!

Life is good.

Swimming and hanging out at the river up the road is working out just great! Not to deep, plenty of space, a little dock to jump from, a port-a-potty. Three new tubes to float in, and shade for the momma.

Last night was yummy 4th of July food with friends...hamburgers/hot dogs/ potatoe and spaghetti salads, corn on the cob and watermelon. Huge chocolate and red, white and blue dipped strawberries were enjoyed at the firworks.

The inside chores are done for today, I should do some outside things in a bit. I need to vacuum the pool, do a tiny bit of flower tending, finish stripping the front door, and clean and straighten up the storage room.

This new and improved, less anal/obsessive, task driven mom brought to you today by Celexa.

:)

Odds and Ends

Memorial weekend is usually our "plant the garden weekend" each year. This year the weekend started out well enough. The girls and I went to a baby shower on Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening; we all went to dinner (LittleCaesars) and to the movies to see Shrek 3. Devin complained of her stomach hurting as soon as we finished the pizza. She had no further complaints until she woke up at 2 am puking. She continued to be sick and threw in some uncontrollable diarrhea to boot. I finally took her to the ER around 4 am on Monday night/Tuesday morning since she just wasn't getting any better. They put an IV in her and did some blood work there. She was pinpointing her stomach pain to the upper right side and had definate pain on palpation. She got a regular x-ray, a cat scan that showed something going on with her gall bladder and then an ultra sound of her gall bladder. Her gall bladder was swollen, and "full of sludge." The ER Dr. consulted with the surgeon and they decided to send her to DeVos since she was an "unsual case due to her age, and the fact that she had no real risk factors for gall bladder disease." The word 'removal' was also thrown around in there. So they loaded her into an ambulance and away we went. Dave followed behind in the car. She spent 24 hours down in Grand Rapids where they informed us that her gall bladder was swollen as a result of not releasing any bile because she hadn't eaten in two days. They observed her and kept her on the IV. When we got home on Wednesday evening, there was a call from the local ER/Dr.'s office. Come to find out that there was samonella in her stool specimens. I could account for everything she ate for the week prior, and all, or a combination of us had eaten the same things as her. So, the moral of the story is: DO NOT GET A TURTLE! Trent had been having her 'help' with feeding the turtle the week before she became sick. She got the lecture from me about hand washing at that time, and Trent told her also. She is no longer helping, and the turtle is slowly on his way out of here.

We brought the dog home on Wednesday. The pound had her listed as a lab/hound mix, but we are pretty certain she is all red bone coon dog. She has wrinkles like these and the same big brown eyes...I could just eat her up if she wasn't so puppy stinky! The vet is saying she's about 5.5 months old...hopefully that is still young enough for her to become friends with the two cats and not eat them for dinner! I'm pretty happy with her potty skills, I've only had to clean up 3 puddles and one pile so far in 3 days. She HATES! the kennel, and loves the furniture. She also loves to sleep with us, and she snores. She is so good with the kids it's crazy, but she has been keeping us running trying to get toys away from her. She steals babies, baby diapers, anything fuzzy, kleenex, you name it. She goes back to the vet's in three weeks for her neutering. Dave is crazy bout her. He won't say it out loud, but he was raised to be a dog freak, and some things don't change. The kids sit and watch him with her and just snicker....

No more looking at houses, Dave has agreed to remortgage the house so we can do the rest of the room gutting and refinishing. That should be a huge mess. It involves Trent's room, the upstairs hallway, the stairway, living room, computer room and dining room. Good thing we are supposed to pick up Dave's parents 27' fifth wheel next month. We'll have to live in it for a few weeks. The good news is that we won't be doing the drywalling, mudding and sanding. YAY! Just the gutting and removal of the old walls. Think we'll rent a dumpster this time.

That's all for now, I'm in the middle of making 150 mini cheescakes for a wedding shower on Monday evening. Tomorrow I'll dip 2 quarts of strawberries in chocolate. Yum.

SVU

Weekend was fun....took awhile to get down state for the party though. We spent All. Dat. Saturday with the in-laws; MIL, FIL, SIL & BIL. I mean all day but it was better than usual. Sunday we took Dave to the wave pool to celebrate Father's Day.

Monday was a rest and relax kind of day. Put the weekend gear away and started the laundry. Visited the dog that day too.

Yesterday we shopped for minimal dog supplies and had some trampoline time.

Today is the day that the dog can (hopefully) come home. She has a vet appointment straight after pick up. Trent has a Dr.'s appointment this afternoon for a repeat rash on his hand.

Off & running...

...this weekend. Heading down state for graduation party, Father's Day, and helping the MIL car shop festivities.

The kids took Dave to meet the dog yesterday. He's still yakking about "No dog!", but we all know what a fruit cake he is for dogs.

I need to get moving on the packing and head for a nail appointment.
