Momma Drama

Coping skills....

Where art thou today? It's one of those days. The kind that have my cringing every time someone hollers "Mom!" One of those that have me doing my least favorite thing in the world, backtracking. You know, the re-doing of some damn thing, because someone (Maiya) has just un-done it. The kind of day that challenges me to remain civil. The kind of day that makes me pull over on the side of the road until the children are sufficiently bewildered into quietness. The kind of day that has me saying and doing everything 3 fuckin' times, because even if they've seen each other get in trouble for whatever it is, they ALL still need to copy each other and do it too. I think it's beacuse I'm feeling not right. Not sick, but not right. Allergy/sinus thing I think. Please let it be over soon.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

There are 6 baby finches, and DAMN! are they ever noisy! I can't believe they all fit into that tiny nest. Eight of them...

The twice a week trips to the allergist continue...Dave has been kind enough to take him on Mondays. Last week was vacation bible school, the kids went and I worked it. I'm actually glad it's over with now. It was fun, but took up the whole morning.

We are enjoying the summer so far. My gf was just here the last few days to visit. We had our first bon-fire on Tuesday night. We have had lots of slip & slide fun. The new swingset is up and operational. We been to our first 'official' *gasp!* playdate, and it was fun. We had a picnic lunch and hike down at the campground. We've been traveling (400+ miles roundtrip) to Grandmas. We took Dave to the wave pool for Father's Day. Now we just need to plan our camping weekends. We (the big 2 and I) went rollerskating on Monday, and they had "Track & Field" day yesterday at the high school. They got to play tag, have water balloon tosses, throw the footballs around and hang out at the playground at the end.

For the first time in about 7 or so years I don't feel the need to being in the middle of a 'project'. The house is set for now. The two upstairs bedrooms need to be gutted and done, but for some odd reason I want nothing to do with it. I'd rather sit outside and tan, and have Dave teach me how to ride the bike, and hang out with the kids....rollerblading, walking, swimming, etc. :) What is wrong with me?

The poor neglected blog....

We are finishing up a week a vacation bible school, then heading out of town for the weekend.

My kids need me and vice versa. More than I need the computer, who would have thought. ;) All three for different reasons. Trent because at age 7.5, he isn't going to want to have his head up my butt for too much longer. Devin, because we need to work on having her learn to spread her wings a little more. Let her talk for herself out in the real world, instead of being content to have Trent be the yakker. We also need to do some pre-kindergarten fine tuning. And Maiya? She needs me to hammer down on her sassy ass. Plain and simple.

I need to get us packed today, and finish up all the Father's Day craft/gift stuff. I should probably get a head start on Monday's stuff for the meeting too. We'll get home Sunday night and the big two are signed up for rollerskating at 8:30 on Monday morning. We have a few days here and there of Summer Adventure Program activities, through the local community education.

Have a great weekend all!

School is out!!!
Yay. And more yay....

The annual "Small Town Celebration" is going on this weekend. Seven minute long parade tomorrow. Truck & tractor pulls. Bake sale. Etc. Fun times...

Tonight, for the first of our Snapperific Summer activities (a la Pez's "Summer'o'Fun 2005" style), we made butter. One tablespoon of whipping cream in a small jelly jar for each child. Then a whole lot of shaking. And a punny note for Trent to read saying "We butter have loads of fun this summer."

The laundry room is done. Finally. Woot. Just need to do a few touch up spots. Storage room is done. Garage sale is done, never again I say on that. Never. I'm so glad to have the house de-cluttered though. I'll go back through it one room at a time over the course of this summer. Front flower beds are done, made from scratch actually. Major breakthrough with Dave on gutting the two rooms that need it upstairs. He has finally decided that yes, in fact, it just might be a good idea. Elsewhere with him, no breakthroughs...like I may actually need some gawd damn assistance around here. Ever. With anything house/child/garbage/laundry/cooking/heavy lifting related. He goes to work 3 days a week and mows the lawn. That's pretty much it. If I ask, maybe. Just once I'd like to see some initiative. Heh.

Trent started his allergy shots this week, took them like a pro. Luckily, we made it through (so far, knock on wood) the spring without twice a month trips to the ped's for sinus infections.

This weekend, we need to make a fenced in area in part of the yard. Something to keep Maiya in, and the neighborhood heathens out. We also need to put this bad boy together. Wish us me luck.

Have a great weekend all!!!
