Momma Drama

Sunday, March 28, 2004 @ 8:32 PM

Oy vey!

My poor bunny. She has been spiking temp's at night the last two nights. She is the first Snapper child to get the tepid bath treatment at 3 a.m. Not sure what gives with her. She's acting like her usual self, only more tired. Appetite remains great (hmmmmm....does she take after anyone we know?) She is still working on cutting those molars, but I'm sure that isn't all that's going on. She has her 15 month well child appointment on Wednesday, but she will be a frequent flyer this week. I'll be calling there tomorrow and getting her in.

We did manage to get the biggies to the show to see Scooby Doo 2. It was okay, I thought the first one was funnier.

Spent time outdoors yesterday and today....Devin riding her bike, Trent rollerskating. Dave got Trent's bike out today and worked with him for a bit. He may actually be able to ride a two-wheeler sometime before he's 15.

Dave cleaned out the storage room today. Yay! I finally sat down and wrote a letter/update for his parents. I made copies to mail off to other family members,in addition to all three of the kids newest pictures. Cheater, I know.

Been scrapping the last few days too. I have met my 10 page goal for the month. Whoo Hoo!

No big plans for tomorrow. Just to decorate cookies after Trent gets home......make flans to go with Mexican dinner.......couple of village things.....hang out.

Friday, March 26, 2004 @ 6:06 AM

This is what happens when you are old, and you don't drink your water every day. You think you are going to blog after Fear Factor, but by then you are so tired (lame) that you just go to bed.........

Let's see here...........I've been busy cleaning. I guess I'll call it good as far as spring cleaning goes. It was for the sole purpose of having the realtor and her office come out two days ago. Except, I had called her about a week and a half ago and left a message saying I'd like to switch it to just her coming out....."Please call me back at your earliest convenience." I never heard back from her so I assumed she didn't get the message and that they were all still coming out like originally planned. My mistake. So now, she will be coming out next Thursday.

Tuesday I discovered that we have not 7 bodies like I originally thought, but 8 dead bodies in the wrong spots in the cemetery. Superfantastic! Did I mention last week that I was caught up Village wise? I think I did.....damn me! Dave and I know about 5 people in this town, and two of the people we know have their loved ones in the wrong spots. Great. Nothing like being so selfish that you don't want to call your daycare lady and say "Hey, sorry to tell you, but your IL's got buried in the wrong holes...." Ugh!

Today is Dave's last day at the old job. The were pretty much blindsided by his resignation....wanted to know what they could do to get him to stay, blah, blah, blah. Then they got a touch ugly after they realized he wasn't staying. Now they are back to semi-nice so that he will stay on as contingent. He needs to call human resources today and find out when exactly our insurance with them ends, because the new stuff doesn't start until May 1st. Argh! Makes me nervous to ride without any....says she of the former bankruptcy due to an appendectomy and no insurance. The new job starts April 12th. The insurance is going to be cheaper....so if you figure that into the pay cut it brings the pay cut down to 28 cents per hour. Nice to know, since our gasoline and car repair or new payment is going to take a real beating. The vision and dental insurance is better, so that is nice too. We caught a BIGI sale on polo shirts at Meijers the other day, now we need to spiff him up with some new Dockers and get him a new lab coat. I don't think he is excited yet. I'm excited for him though. He loves that fast paced hospital stuff, and he loves to learn so this is going o be great. I don't think he found me funny when I told him that the lettuce in his Wendy burger was the new leaf he was turning over though....;)

Transportation is an issue right now, yet again. Last week Dave said that the truck was leaking differential fluid out the back and he's worried that the whole thing is going to seize up. Then 4 days later he comes home and says the car is leaking oil again. This was fixed in December and those repairs have a year warranty thank goodness. I'm sure that it will be something new though, and not under warranty. There's something to be said for not having a truck payment for the last 5 years, and no car payment for the last 18 months. There is also something to be said for car repairs that crop up every few months and cost an arm and a leg.............We may have to bite the bullet. If we do, our payments shouldn't be too much. For some unknown reason we are getting $7,000 back from federal. Somebody really needs to change his W-4, which he will be doing at the new job. I need to find out how to get a hold of anyone who can answer questions about the "Park & Ride" program though. Dave can't be the only person who lives in this bedroom community and travels to GR for work right?

I think it may be spring...........I think we won't have another heavy snow. A few light dustings yes. And gawd knows I'll cry when I see them. This is my fruity time of the year. I can smell it.......I can hear it in the form of the birds, I can see it, my bulb plants are trying their damnedest to poke through. It has been 50* today and yesterday morning. Yay for spring! I have the window open right now...and the birds are going to town (for bread and milk no doubt...lol!). We had a true spring rainfall this morning.....it's tapered off now thank goodness. We've got to walk Trent to school...no fun in a downpour.

My period thinks it's funny to be late every month anymore. It really doesn't help my irrational fear of being pregnant again. I'm actually hoping this is a sign of premenopause so I can move on with life and not have panic grip me by the cockles of my heart every month and squeeze them until they burst....

We're having a garage sale. $&^$#^&!!! Only because we aren't going to be able to itemize next year, so I rented the hall for $25. Now I don't have to worry about cleaning my garage, tables and table space, rain, potty breaks, etc. I'm doing a one day blowout sale from probably 9-3 on Memorial Day. The hall was taken on the Saturday I tried to get it. Anyone want to buy a 1994 Ford Ranger, a boat, or a ton of baby stuff?

The house next door sold. Rumor has it that they wanted to try and turn it into a 4 unit rental. No go in a residential area, can't be more than a 2 unit. We shall see I guess.

I wish to high heaven that Maiya would hurry up and cut these molars. I bet she does too. One is all the way through. She is miserable and I'm out of Motrin to do the Tylenol-Motrin round the clock happy hours....

Devin wants to be a boy. Is this normal?

Trent is looking forward to spring break, he is tired if the rest of us doing stuff together while he is at school. Poor guy. We've got parent-teacher conference next week.

I went to the dentist yesterday to start the bleaching kit process. Do you know that they actually talked me out of it? When I first started looking into having it done, they said that the OTC products weren't as strong as the professional ones. Now, they say they are pretty darn close. Suggested that I try the OTC's first and then decide if I want to go the dentist route. Very nice of them to save me my $250 to put towards the $40 OTC stuff. I shall buy some this weekend.

If I get my eyes examined this month on the old insurance and get new glasses, can I then turn around after May and get an exam and contacts with the new insurance? Moral or no?

Today I need to have a "phone call" day, and a "computer day" too. I'm chomping at the bit to change the blog template....but that is a whole nother day in and of itself. ;)

I scrapped this morning. I need to finish another page today. It's all cut and planned. That will make 9 pages for the month. I had a goal of 10...yay for me!

I need to cut and date Devin's pictures that we picked up yesterday.

Need to get Devin's bike out of the garage today before she explodes.

This weekend we need to go see Scooby Doo 2 if daycare can take Maiya. We are going to bake some cookies for Trent to take to school on his snack day next week. Tulip cookies...and decorate them. (Thanks Shelly! ;)

Think that's it for now.......I have 5 minutes before the natives get up.

Happy Friday all!

@ 7:40 PM

Here is my post......C & P'ed from HerTime because I am just such a lazy heffer! ;)

I am finally getting over an un-treated sinus infection. Never again I say.....I do not spring back from these things like I used to. I have spent the last two and a half weeks feeling like death warmed over, carting my 18# head behind me......Trent is half way through his antibiotic course for yet another sinus infection too. I thought Devin was finally cold free, but today she is super snotty. Baby M is teething, and ultra crabby. She is a real cling-on right now. She had a puking bout the other night; luckily nothing else came of that.

I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel, village work wise....and it isn't a train! Yay!!! Knock on wood though; I really don't want to hex myself. I think I may actually be totally and completely caught up by the beginning of next week.

Dave has decided to leave his current job of the last 7.5 years in favor of another. The new job is 8-hour shifts on afternoons, an hour away in Grand Rapids. Monday through Friday. He is looking forward to the 'change of scenery' and the new opportunities it will bring. Unfortunately, it comes with a pay cut, so we will really need to buckle down on the budget. If things get too tight, I would be able to go to work during the day without using daycare, or using daycare minimally. I am really looking forward to him working these shorter shifts. His last day of work is the 29th, and the new job starts on the 12th. Our Dr. and the ped both take the new insurance, which is a pure and total relief as far as the ped goes. The realtor comes next week to do a "walk-through" of the house. We will find out what we need to do to get it sale ready. I've been doing some deeper cleaning here and there,....a little every day. I hope that between that and the new job that we will be switching into "Yeah....let's move down south" mode soon! :)

Monday, March 15, 2004 @ 1:03 AM

I love scrapping.
Bunny got me up, to the sweet sounds of puking. :( Hope that was a one time deal. I really despise cleaning up vomit.........
The two week notice has been e-mailed. It willl also be faxed and mailed tomorrow.

Sunday, March 14, 2004 @ 7:46 AM

Friday was good. Good. Good. Good.
Dave took all three kids to daycare on his way to get the taxes done. For some ungodly reason, we are due to get more than double back this year over last years return. I can't believe that the child tax credit would make such a huge difference. I'm sure not going to question it too much though. I made huge strides that day on getting caught up on village stuff. I need to start making out the bills, the agendas, bill sheets, etc. for Mondays meeting. Dave and I did some errand running including giving blood later in the day and went out for dinner. He decided to take a job in Grand Rapids. He should be turning in his two week notice with the current company tomorrow. Good and bad with this deal........it is a bigger pay cut than we would have liked to see, and hour commute every day instead of his usual hour commute two days a week, no mileage, no sign on bonus, afternoon shift, etc. The good points are: Eight hour shifts, a more progressive hospital means higher tech exams, it gets him out from under that "No compete clause" his current company has just about everywhere, he will no longer be ineligible for high tech hospital positions elsewhere "because you've been in the slower paced mobile field for the last 7 years...."
We are really going to have to knuckle down on the budget. I've been saying that for the last few weeks, but still..... Him working afternoons opens up some possibilities of me working though if need be with little to no daycare expense. I can do nails from 9-1 every day if need be, or if I work days as a nurse, the kids would end up at daycare for one hour only, assuming I got out of work on time (hahahaha!) (The thought of working dayshift kills me though....it starts at 6 am. Ack! Gotta do what you gotta do sometimes though...) I actually looking forward to the 8 hour shifts most of all, even with him driving an hour each way. Right now he works 13 hour shifts with between a 20 minute to hour drive each way. He'd be gone for 10 hours instead of the 15 hours like some days now.
Dave is supposed to be composing his resignation letter in his head on the drive home from downstate today. Hope he doesn't balk....... He would like to stay on with the current company and pick up a weekend here and there. Trying not to burn bridges and all.....

Yesterday it was me and the kidlets and more poor aching head. I may actually have to make a Dr.'s appointment for tomorrow. We whipped through the house and straightened up, then did some shopping. Hit the library for some movies, check out the Goodwill, went to K Mart......got another 3 drawer organizer for my scrapbooking odds and ends, got two shelving units for the laundry room. Came home had some dinner, watched a few movies, ate some popcorn, then it was off to bed for them. I finished soaking off my nails.......hate when I do this, I give them a break for a few weeks every so often. I feel nekkid!!!

Today should be a pretty lazy day. Need to make up for the last three days off of laundry detail. There is more fresh snow on the ground today...We'll watch Star Wars at some point, it's the movie Trent picked. Joy. :/ Baby hollers...I must go! :)

Friday, March 12, 2004 @ 10:46 AM

I have got it bad.....I did this one before breakfast even. :)

@ 7:29 AM

Fresh snow on the ground today.

I will be 40.5 years old when my baby enters kindergarten. Oy! I try not to dwell on the numbers, but sometimes it sneaks up on me. If that's not incentive to eat right and exercise, I don't know what is.

I am very much looking forward to today.

Thursday, March 11, 2004 @ 12:26 PM

The never-ending headache continues............actually it is now gone again for the day, thanks to an Imitrex nasal spray. This is really getting old. I need to call the Dr.'s for a new prescription. I'll see if he suggests something new.......

Glorious morning it was......sunny and semi-warm. I even saw 2 robins flirting with each other on the front lawn. Deceivingly beautiful....so much so that Dave 'ditched' himself on the side of the road on the way to work today. Hit a patch of black ice and off he went. Luckily, he is okay, and the truck suffered nothing more than a flat tire, since it didn't hit the telephone pole like Dave thought it would. Right now there are snow flurries going on outside. *Sigh...*

Devin is finishing up her thank you cards right now....decorating them to the hilt. We really need to work on writing her letters. I guess it's time......

Taxes are going to be done tomorrow...started I should say, it usually takes the guy a few days. All three kidlets are going to daycare tomorrow. If I can get my poop in a group still sometime today, and get some village stuff done, I'll be able to do some painting tomorrow. I noticed yesterday that the girls room needs a second coat around the edges.....caca! Didn't notice that when I thought I was done in there. Called the realtor today to switch from the whole office doing a walk-through on the 24th, to having just her go through. I'm already stressing about it all. I've also decided that I really don't want to do a garage sale either. Too much work for me. I'll just donate the stuff and write it off next year. It would be different if I could count on some assistance with these type of things, but alas...I cannot. Whatever makes my life easier I say anymore.

Superhero girl is up and running....underpants and all. I finished them yesterday. I should have some film to develop very soon.

Looking forward to Survivor tonight. Okay, off to attempt some of that work that gives me a paycheck every month.

Wednesday, March 10, 2004 @ 8:46 PM

Last night's scrap L/O here. Thanks Katie! (Still need to tweak it some, but got the concept down.)

Just Let Momma Lay Down And Die Day

I'm really tired of mis-medicating because sinus issues and migraines mimic each other so often. Finally caved and took an Imitrex late this morning.....tried to lay down and die. No can do people. Baby Maiya woke up about 15 minutes into her usual 3 hour nap and wouldn't settle back down. I just needed to lay on the couch, with the pillow over my eyes and rest for 30 minutes. Instead I had to cry for minute because I couldn't stand to let her CIO, but I sure didn't want to go get her either. After I got her, changed her, Oral-geled her, Motrin-ed her and changed the batteries in her tape player and put her back down with the lullaby tape....all was good again, thank goodness.

On the home front:
*Got 60#'s (hanging weight) or pork tonight for $99. Good deal there.....living in the country has some perks. Sausage, bacon, hocks, chops, pork roast, ham, soup bones and pork steaks. Love, love, love pork products!
*I wonder if anyone else notices that there are still some Valentines Day decorations up? Hmmmmm....
*Need to sit down and do Thank You cards with Devin tomorrow for her birthday presents.

On the kid front:
*I really must schedule Devin at daycare on a regular basis. She is much too charming not to share. Heh. That girl never, and I mean never stops talking. Ever. I think I'll do every Tuesday for her and every other Tuesday for Maiya. That's the schedule we used to have for Trent and Devin and it really worked out nicely. I need a break. I'm starting to wonder if it would make me a bad person to lie and say she is old enough for kindergarten this coming fall. She is going to be one hell of a woman.....we should all be so high spirited. :)
*Trent is superduperallyooper excited........he goes on a field trip tomorrow to go swimming. They are allowed to wear beach clothes to school, and they'll have a picnic lunch too. I've opted not to go along on this one. I'm hoping he will swim and not be afraid if his mom and dad aren't there. He tends to be a bit squeamish in the pool. He actually does much better at the beach. Of course that just means that I'm a nervous damn wreck about it all though.

On the village front:
*I have really got to be in the right mood to tackle that work, today was not the day for it.
*The good news is that the thing I was struggling with that had to be done by Monday has been done. Not by me......It came via fax from the attorney's office. Yippee and yee haw too!! That was a true godsend there.
*Now if I could just get the Treasurer here to sign the checks that need to go out I'd be all set. She has resigned, effective when we have a replacement but she is really not into it anymore. I've called her three times about these checks. Oy! We may be hiring her replacement this coming Monday, not 100% sure yet.

And now......the bed is calling me. Loudly. Night!

Tuesday, March 09, 2004 @ 6:32 AM

Hello all. Put on your mask to read here...you know we are just all germie-fied again!

The weekend was spent wiping a snotty baby nose and administering breathing treatments to said baby every 4 hours round the clock. *Yawn* I did manage to get out to Hobby Lobby and Joanns for scrapbooking stuff and photo storage boxes.

The neighbors who were scheduled to babysit the girls on Monday were also sick, so working the election yesterday just did not happen for me. It was a last minute, pain in the ass scramble to find replacements but it all worked out in the end. Took Maiya back to be re-checked yesterday, her lungs sound good and Trent is starting with a sinus infection. :( Maiya's breathing treatments only have to be three times a day now, and as needed so I got a full nights sleep last night. Whoo Hoo!!

I managed to get to the hall right as the polls were closing, so at least I learned how to do the count and bag up the ballots. There are 364 registered voters in the village. Twenty seven people voted. Can you just say small, tiny, itty bitty turnout? Can you just say pitiful?

Today was supposed to be that big "day off" day, except Dave has to work and I'm probably just going to keep Maiya home with me. Next day off won't be until the 19th if everything works out like it's supposed to.

Trent has no school on Friday. Dave is going downstate on Saturday for a Red Wing game. He will come home with my Grandma's sewing machine in the cabinet. I noticed sparks coming off the motor of my garage sale machine.....yikes! I called a realtor yesterday, they are going to come out and do a walk through on the 24th. The perfect way to get this moving thing done is to get the house "sale-ready" first. Then put it up for sale since the market is so slow here. Sell it, move into an apartment then find that perfect down south job and be ready to move at the drop of a hat. Or at least that is the hope. Dave should be hearing from a Grand Rapids job either today or tomorrow. They are re-working on the wage. If he took that job it would get him out from under that bastard "no-compete clause" stranglehold his current company has on him.

So, the plan today is to do some village work, get the election paperwork to the County Clerk by 11 am. Do some scrapbooking then pick up Trent from school at 3 pm, and head out to pick up Devin after that. Maybe a nap in there somewhere since I still feel crappy.

Quotes of the Day~ "Pizza makes my head feel better." ~Devin
"This mouth never stops talking!" ~Guess who...

Friday, March 05, 2004 @ 7:58 PM

Bunny is sick, sick, sick..............I'm so tired of everyone being sick. I just want them healthy, and to stay healthy.........

@ 11:58 AM

What was...

1. ...your first grade teacher's name? Mrs. Calendar.

2. ...your favorite Saturday morning cartoon? Tom & Jerry.

3. ...the name of your very first best friend? Sheila

4. ...your favorite breakfast cereal? Caca to all. "Life" if I must.

5. ...your favorite thing to do after school? As a kid....go outside and play.

@ 8:44 AM

So yesterday was totally and completely lost to a migraine...........I hate when that happens. I've been lucky lately though, they usually come when Dave is home (hmmmm.....), but that's better than me being here alone to take care of the kidlets.

Grandma came up for Devin's birthday and she got lots of phone calls from other folks that day too. Two packages in the mail for her....she had a good day all in all. I'm still working on her confounded superhero underpants......oh if I had it to do all over I would have made superhero belt instead and hot glued the lame to the belt!

I should be caught up on the laundry sometime today....cripes! It's been something like 12 loads and the kicker is that the laundry wasn't behind when the hot water tank went out. Folks need to get or be naked more often............

Scrapped a L/O last night.....maybe I shouldn't have. It's kind of plain but it looks okay.

It is pouring down rain right now (the reason for yesterdays migraine I imagine...) I need to go to the bank today, pick up pictures, Rite Aid and the post office. Hope it stops by this afternoon!

I need to call the ped.'s in about 10 minutes. Devin is still working on her headcold (me too..) but Maiya is really tugging on those ears and running a low grade temp. Plus she hocked up a nice phlegm chunk this morning. I'd rather take them in today and have nothing be terribly wrong than let crap ride through the weekend and get worse.

I heard the rocking chair in the living room squeaking on Tuesday, ever so softly, but in perfect rhythm. I go out to look and see baby Maiya sitting up in as proud as she could be....rocking herself. It is a long way up into that chair but she does pretty well getting in and she's able to get down too. :( She is getting too big! Yesterday she was dancing to the rhythmic sounds of the cat dry heaving....it was so funny in a sick, twisted way.

Good news on the Village work front....I was beginning to get very overwhelmed, except come to find out one certain thing doesn't have to be done yet. That news went a long way towards helping my outlook on the job. I still have lots to do, but I hope to make huge strides today. Heh.

Poor Dave.....next Tuesday when we are supposed to have a day off...lay around, watch movies, eat out, etc., come to find out he has to work. :( I'm still taking the day......I'll schedule another one when he's off on the 19th.

@ 8:33 AM

Devin's Birth Story:

The Dr.'s office called us on Thursday 3/2/00 to have us come in that night to start induction with Cytotec in the cervix. My mom drove up to stay with Trent. We went in at 7 pm. Had pills in at 7:30, 11:30, and 3:30. Checked by Dr. Kelly at 7:30 am......2 cm and 70% effaced. My water was broken and contractions started in hard and heavy right away. Checked again at 8:45 am......3 cm and 100% effaced. Tried to walk around the unit once, didn't really happen. Got back into bed and had the extreme urge to push. Checked at 9:30 am......10 cm and 100% effaced. You weren't playing around! :) I pushed through 5 contractions and you came flying, and I mean flying out at 9:40 am with your large self. You nearly split me in two in the process. You weighed 8# 7 oz. and were 21 1/4" long. We came home the next day. You nursed well right away which was a nice change from nursing Trent in the beginning.

You entered the world thinking you were a force to be reckoned with, and the same still holds true today. :) Happy birthday to my Revin' Devin, my Sasha Sue, my Smidgeon Pidgeon, my breath of fresh air, my Devin Melissa!

Wednesday, March 03, 2004 @ 11:38 AM

Monday was an interesting day...........took Trent to school in the foggy rain, and picked him up in the same. Took a shower next door at the neighbors....how weird is that? The thought of having to take one more whore's bath will make you do some odd things I guess. Dave got home early enough that night for us to go to Home Depot after dinner for a hot water tank. I didn't want to go. Odd huh....me, not wanting to go to Home Depot. You'd think someone could handle buying a tank....alone, while I did constructive things around here. Like work on Devin's birthday costume. But really....I think I was just worried about missing my 8 pm date with Joe Rogan. ;) I bet he would be a hoot to go throw some darts and drink beers with..........*sigh*.........

Yesterday....Dave and Mr. J. got the tank in, up and running. Yay!!! Hot water rocks. The new tank is bigger so today I can actually do more than two loads of laundry back to back. Yipee, I think?!?! Went to my nail appointment yesterday, promptly busted one all to hell last night. We went to Meijers after dinner to get Devin's cake and some odds and ends. Don't you know I made Dave go with me. Tit for tat and all......;) Worked until late into the night on the old birthday costume........painted on the "S D" onto the shirt with gold glitter fabric paint, finished the hand sewing part of the gold lame underwear, started to zig zag around them one more time when the sewing machine started acting up. UGH!!! Still need to trouble shoot it today and get those gold superhero girlie pants done! Dave wrapped the other gifts.......monkey socks (big lover of monkeys she is...), her own scrapbook, a travel case of stickers, crayons, coloring books, paper, etc. (she is in an artsy fartsy stage...) and some gum. She has been waiting for this day for so long to try gum again. Hopefully she will keep it in her mouth and off of her coat this time....otherwise I'll switch my mantra to "Not until you are 5!!!"

Meanwhile, today...back at the farm....we are having one of "those" days. Devin is a tad sick with sinus/headcold issues but I swear to God.......her heffer-ness better be sickness related. If she thinks this is going to be some new twist of her personality, her and I will have to roll. Bunny is cutting 4 molars all at once right now and is in that "Dear God I better scream, mommy has left the room..." stage. Oy!! Couldn't wait to put folks down a little while ago for naps/quiet times. Forgot that I stripped the crib this morning.....Maiya decided to fill her pants while I remade it. Re-make...re-change. Stop the ride, I want to get off! I have about 10 loads of laundry to do today.....2 down, 8 to go. Today, of course, the dryer vent hose decided to disattach itself from the wall, and the dryer. The damn thing is so short to start with it's almost impossible to get it hooked back up. Maiya learned some new cuss words today out in the laundry room with me.

Took a break here for company. My girlfriend and Dh came by to bring Devin a gift....she was sweet as pie. And now they have left, along with Devin's manners. I need a day off, I'm not going to make it until my weekend in May! I have daycare scheduled for the 9th. Dave is off that day too. I promised myself that I will not do anything house related, or village related that day. We are going to lay around, order a pay-per-view movie, eat out, etc. A day off.....not a day off from the kids, but a day off!!!

Okay, I really need to work on those superhero pants...........and Grandma will be here soon. Still need to vacuum, and the laundy calls.

I'll post Devin's birth story later. :)
