Momma Drama

Tip of the day: Do not look for daily updates from Chris.......

Wednesday~ That was a busy day.............doing some pre-Thanksgiving prep for Dave. He is the actual Thanksgiving Day cooker, since it is his family that comes. That evening I ended up with the stomach bug. :( Trent too..........we spent the night on the air mattress in the guest room right next to the bathroom.

Thursday~ By morning we were done hurling, but bone tired. Dave's sister decided to come anyways, brave(?) girl. It was a low key day for me..........and hardly anything to eat on the big day. Oh, how I hated that!! I did manage to make Devin the apron that I had promised her. She wanted to wear it to bed, she is pleased as punch with it. I'm not sure how Dave ended up so sane with the lot of folks he calls his family..........maybe he's waiting for the day when the novelty of our relationship wears off to surprise me with some sort of never seen craziness.

Friday~ Dave got to go to work, while his family stayed until about 3 pm. They managed to back their car into the tree on their way out of the driveway. Spent the rest of this day doing clean up.

Saturday~ Dave and the neighbor fixed the small section of porch roof today where the squirrels were getting in, the dirty turds. (The squirrels I mean.......) Trent and I went errand running. Florist for flowers for us, the bank, the car repair shop, the hardware store, Ben Franklins, drugstore, haircut for him. Started the huge task of post company, post flu laundry. That's a lot of sheets there........Dave started packing for his second deer hunting vacation of this season. May 6th, 7th, and 8th are mine!! That is all I have to say about that. And believe me...I keep saying it!!

Sunday~ More laundry.........gawd I hate it anymore!! Got Dave packed the rest of the way and off. He shall return in 5 days at the latest, earlier if he manages to get a deer. We all made paper Christmas ornaments to hang up for our "25 days of activities leading up to Christmas." I need to write an activity on the back of each one tonight and tape them up yet. (Yawn.......or in the morning) I pulled all of the Christmas stuff out of the attic and put a few things up/out today. I'll save the rest for later this week.

Tomorrow I need to drop off petitions to the County Clerk for our general election in March. This will be after I lasso the neighbor into helping me pick up our car from the shop. The car has been there for 10 days already!!! Ouch on the repair total though............we cannot afford anymore repairs of this caliber!! These neighbors are great btw..........except Dave and I feel like such takers all of the sudden. We never used to ask anyone for any help. Of course, there was never anyone around to ask. All of the sudden, these people move next store and we are asking for all kinds of crap it seems. I don't know if things got harder, and we need help, or if it's just easy to ask them. We have to move away.........they are always wanting to help us. Telling us we give them so much more in return, blah, blah, blah. I just don't get it.

I'm sure there is more I need to write, but if I don't get Maiya up from her nap (?!?!), she will never go to bed, which is where she should technically be already, but she needs a bath and a bottle. She is a tad out of sorts today.......hope she isn't getting the creeping crud too. :(

Look at me, with my 2 day skipping self.........I stink! I need to make this blog work, since I haven't written anything in my paper journal since August......I will make this work, and copy, paste and print.

Since the last entry......Devin decided to get the stomach flu overnight, that was Sunday night I believe. She was fine the next day though, thank goodness. So far so good for everyone else, wonder if it was just the pizza she ate.

I've been kicking butt on the baking for the holidays. Made 3 batches of toffee, a slew of creamy mint candies, a bunch of chocolate peanut butter fudge, more cookie dough, and some bar cookies. Yesterday I got all the cans wrapped in paper. Coffee, formula, etc. cans wrapped with Christmas paper to put the cookies/candies in. Still need to make some more pound cake.....some for the holidays, one for new neighbors that have moved in across the street. Need to get going on the personalized coffee mugs for the kiddies on our list. These go along with hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. Now the big question is do I make large chocolate dipped mallows, or small ones drizzled with chocolate? Hmmmmm...........

It snowed all day yesterday............there are a few inches on the ground out there. And it is cold...you can tell because the snow is sparkling like a fine diamond. When it's like that, you know it's freezing, and the snow will crunch under your feet, and the cold will bite the inside of your nose. Yup, I checked, and it's 14 degrees. I am so glad we are going to an indoor waterpark today with some friends.

Trent needs new snow boots, Devin slides into Trent's from last year, and baby Maiya gets none. I need to find a sled with a back support and a seatbelt on it....it is really going to suck walking Trent to school in the mornings for the next few months. We all need hats that cover our faces except for our eyes and mouths. BRRRRRRR!! I hate living here in MI in the winter, I can't even begin to express how much I hate it. It gets dark at 5, pitch dark, thanks to daylight savings time, and it snows, snows, snows...........I miss them using salt on the roads up here to melt the salt. They sling a little dirt up here, and call it good. Driving for me is a nightmare, especially when the kids are in the car with me.

The car is going to end up costing $1,000 and won't be ready until Friday. Much better than $3,000 though.

Dave's sister, BIL, and nephew will be here for Thanksgiving. They are due to arrive on Thursday.....their visits are always long and full of issues..........

Once Thanksgiving is over, I can get back to working on Christmas baking. The freezer has no more room. Which reminds me.........Dave needs to take the turkeys out of it, I told him last night, but he has that in one ear--->out the other syndrome.

The kids are watching Sesame Street right now.............oh how I hate Baby Bear. Why must he talk that way???

We will leave for the waterpark around noon. I'm technically supposed to be here until 4 pm to accept petitions and affidavits of identity of candidates that are running for Village Council seats in the March election. The Deputy Clerk will have to accept any that come in after about noon, when we leave. The Clerk job is starting to come together.....it's all stuff that I have absolutely no experience in, so I spent the first few months learning and floundering. I must be doing something right, they voted to give me a raise starting the first of the year. More than $100 more a month. Yay!

The natives are restless, yakking about food or something or other...........time to call it an entry. :) See ya all tomorrow.

The car, oh boy...the car. It will cost somewhere in the $1,000-$3,000 range. Decisions, decisions...........are we mini van bound earlier than we thought?
Cookie dough got made yesterday, peanut butter (enough for 12 dozen) and chocolate chip (enough for 16 dozen). Also made a Southern Gooey Cake to go with dinner. Was not my favorite. Today it will be mini pound cakes, and another cookie dough batch, just not sure which one.
Trent has hockey practice today, wonder if Dave will be kind enough to take Devin along..........I need to take the computer/scanner in to the shop today, scannner is on the blink AGAIN!!
Should be a productive day here...........the whole family went up to bed at around 7:15 pm last night!?!?! I'd say we were all asleep by 8:30. Piti-ful!!!

Friday, November 21, 2003 @ 7:07 AM

Sick.......the whole fam damily lately. Everyone is sort of on the upswing though, except for me. :(
Today, the festivities include........taking Trent to school, dropping of a check to someone, taking the car in for service since the "Check Engine Soon" light is on, taking the girls to daycare, then coming home (to the quiet) and doing some house stuff, and starting the Christmas baking. Dave will probably be more than willing to do the house stuff as opposed to baking. Ha! Double strength coffee all around today!!

@ 7:03 AM

Orange is good!!! Links? Even better. :)

Thursday, November 20, 2003 @ 9:30 PM

Green is bad, no?
:(

@ 9:16 PM

Here it is..............day one!!! Yipee!! Maybe I'll actually keep up with this one as opposed to my paper one.
