Lord help me!
What a day.

I just told Dave two days ago that I finally felt rested since quitting work 2 weeks ago, finally felt like I was caught up on sleep. Got sick about 7 minutes after I told him that I think.....sore throat, stuffy nose, head full of shit. Oy.

Maiya crapped up the joint at nap time........all over the clean sheets, herself, the pack and play, etc. Don't you know she had a bath last night and I changed the sheets yesterday.

Devin fell asleep (miracle!) this afternoon, so she is wide awake this evening. Cried and hollered and whined and fussed through the whole Survivor episode. Because Maiya gets out of bed and sleeps on the floor next to the baby gate across their doorway. Devin wants the door shut. And. Will. Not. SHUT. UP. About. It. I threatened, and threatened some more, and explained if she (Devin) would just shut it already, that Maiya would fall asleep and I could move her to her bed..... Nothing. Still cried and carried on. She even ended up with a double swat to the backside. Any and all suggestions welcome...

Trent got home at 4:10pm, by 6 pm he had been sent to his room. Twice. Where is that "....raising boys..." book again?

The bottom of my foot is swollen. How the hell does that happen? I didn't do anything to it, and don't see anything wrong with it. Aside from the puffiness, warmth, redness and pain.

Let's throw in the cat for good measure today. Yesterday she peed on the floor, must be becasue I moved her litterbox. I think the only one who isn't on the shit list today is the dog, and that's saying something! (Oh yeah, and Dave.)

I think I will just set the VCR to tape ER and end this party as soon as possible. That way, if tomorrow is as cruddy as today at least I'll have one bright and shining moment.

Oh! Great news, the diswasher came back last night. Fixed!! Yay....after weeks and weeks and weeks of hand washing.

Heh
And here I thought Dave wouldn't notice if I took the 19" monitor down, and put the 13"-er back up. I hate that big one....and now, if I can't see to surf maybe I'll go find something else to do. Or change my settings, hehe!

Second productive day in a row. Roll baby, roll!

Kickin' ass and taking numbers today...
Where is my Super Chris costume anyways?

Meeting minutes? Done.
Piddly day after the meeting stuff? Half done.
Finance Committee meeting scheduled? Done.
Cloth diapers and one more load of clothes washed? Done.
Dishes washed? Done. Three times I think, but we don't want to talk about that.
Playdate? Done.
Meals and snacks? Done.
Clothes boxed upand sent to Paula? Done.
Cookies baked and boxed and sent? Done.
Soccer practice? Done.
Tomorrow's dinner? Planned and dessert already baked.
Quality ABC & I Spy time with the kiddies? Done.
Scrapped? Done. Two L/O's.

Only a half moon tonight, so I guess this would be the result of a manic phase. ;)

Just need to proof read the meeting minutes and send them out tomorrow. Hopefully I can finish up the clothes swap out too.

Katie bar the door...
....I've been saying that forever...not sure where it came from. I just know that it sounds silly now, since I know a Katie (Katy) or two.

Eight hours of sleep...Katie bar the door. I feel wired today. Moto-vated! Trent leaves for school in 15 minutes, Dave some time after that to work early today. Playdate for Devin today with Hana, it's a shaving cream and Matchbox car day. That should keep them busy... I forsee the meeting minutes getting done today and all the little piddly things that go with the 'day-after-the-meeting.' I have the ingredients, and need to bake some Dreamsicle cookies for my NYU nephew. I'm slowly working on switching out the fall/summer clothes, Trent has grow this summer!
All of that today, and soccer practice too....
Have a great Tuesday all!

Satan
Satan with an electrical cord this toaster oven is. Good grief!

Did you know you can make S'mores in a toaster oven? Well you can, and they taste mighty fine.

Did you also know that you can whip up a nice slab slice of garlic bread once a day, or three times a day. Complete with fresh parmesan on top...

You can also mix some flour, sugar and oatmeal together with some soft butter and press it into a pyrex bowl. Then you can top that with fresh raspberries and add more dry topping. Bakes up like a dream and cools down to just the right temperature when you slosh some half and half over it.

Gawd help me.....I was losing weight....fat and happy I say, just like a baby! ;)

Over already?
The weekends go by so fast anymore......I think it has to do with Dave working afternoons now.

Migraine, grocery shopping and dinner out day yesterday.

Raspberry picking today and tomato sauce making again.

Village meeting tomorrow.

Tackled the attic the other day. The basement too, and the playroom is just about back together.

Handy man comes tomorrow to build shelving units into our bedroom closet and the girls' closet.

I really need to scrap.....soon. I miss it. Too much work, not enough fun lately.

Dear God and baby Jesus...
...help me.
Why do I bother? Why do I semi-lurk and post on occasion? I'm thankful for the big ass can of reality each time I start to spend too much time there.
Dear God and baby Jesus, please do not let me turn into a mean, bitter, vile fucking bitch some day...
Can I just say that just because "you" have BTDT once, (or 6 times, or 55 hundred eleventy fucking times) does not give you the right to discount someone elses question/comment/opinion.

All things Maiya...
· Diaper removing as a game.
· The lovely age where she thinks giving the hairy eyeball is necessary, acceptable cute.
· Saying "Bad word..." after Dave swears.
· Continuing the love affair she has with climbing out of every chair ever made.
· Still doing the "Truckers, please honk" arm motion when she sees a semi.
· Also whipping her head from right to left to right, etc. at a stop sign waiting to pull into traffic.
· Picking the wallpaper and border off her bedroom walls, much to Devin's dismay.
· Telling her siblings to "Shhhhh", complete with finger to her lips when they whine.
· Combing the cat with the back scratcher.
· Tap dancing in the garage sale tapshoes. Like a pissed off mule. As soon as she gets up, while Dave is still sleeping. Nearly breaking a hip in the process every time.
· Crossing her arms across her chest like a punk, along with more hairy eyeball.
· Roughing up her sister and then hugging her to pieces.
· Running through the house with Trent hanging on to her, because he is trying to button up the back of her dress. Squealing to high heaven in the process.
· Always finding those freaking dress up shoes that hurt like hell when she steps on your foot.
· Hollering to the players, just like everyone else at the soccer game.

Oy! My baby is getting big...

Trent has a soccer game today. They've had one practice so far......

Yesterday was bittersweet at work. My last day, and they fired my director of nursing three days earlier. ?!?

Dave is working today, and sad to be missing the game. Need to tape some of it.

Tomorrow is safety awareness day at the local hospital, lots of cool things to do. And a blood drive/marrow registery. Yay!! I missed the last blood drive.

Need to spend some time on village things. And have a finance committee meeting....wonder how much of a raise the president has in mind for me.

I think I am really going to enjoy the teen years...when the kids actually sleep in.

Have a great weekend all! Extra hugs today to you and yours. (And happy birthday to Kyle!)

One more.
Only one more "getting up at the crack ass of dawn day"....whoo hoo. I almost feel bad. Not bad enough to not have put my work bag and contents upstairs in the attic already though...

The house is coming along. Slowly. It's almost un-condemable again. (Is that even a word?) Flylady meets Dave Ramsey though......flying on a budget. ;)

Happy Friday all! See you on the flip side.

Today.
Managed to drive Trent to school ("We" missed the bus), gas up the car for Dave (Back to the budget/envelope system and Mr. Debit doesn't do well in the gas category), and take Maiya grocery shopping (With 9 dollars left of the budgeted amount) all by 10:30 am.

Had a full lunch of pork chops, rice, green beans, asparagus and vanilla/cream cheese pie.

Finally got the village filing cabinet moved to the office/guest room.

Did some yard work, filling in the crater Zurg dug.

Made a kid friendly dinner of crazy bread (damn those hockey fund raisers here in MI that sell frozen crazy bread kits!), pepperoni, raw carrots and cukes. More pie afterwards (Did somebody say diet?)

Went over Trent's school papers from the week and signed off on them. Trying to find any info on "The Duncan Series" online........it's supposed to be some program for K-6th graders that ultimately "helps prevent alcohol and other drug use in young people."

Trent has the next 4 days off, I work Labor Day.

Quote of the Day~ "Ewwwwww gross!!!! I hope I didn't smell it!".....when she discovered that in order to be born, she came out through a "jy-na."

This rocks!
This whole being back home thing...I spent the weekend on my duff, watching the Olympics. Dave took the big kids fishing Sunday night and Maiya and I stayed home.

Yesterday I did nothing, thanks to the migraine (damn weather!) Nothing consisited of: washing a load of clothes, folding three loads of clothes, spending two and a half hours on village related business, taking Devin to preschool, going to the library, picking Devin up from preschool, calling Rite-Aid to full a prescription, making saurkraut and kielbasa for lunch, etc... ;)

Today was nail day...still need to polish mine tonight. I just got done playing Play-Doh with 'lil Miss, and I'm off to straighten the house and formulate a dinner plan.

Have a great Tuesday all!

I want to:
Talk nicer to the people I love.
Try to fix the regrets I have already, and prevent new ones.
Say "Not right now, it's mommy time" and not feel bad because I have in fact, given plenty of time to the kids.
Dig the clean house out from under the crap.
Not be so crabby.
Renew the friendship with my husband.
Rediscover the lighter, fun loving me.
Get a bird.
Scrap, darn it.
Make Concord grape jam again.
Visit my friend Shannon.
Teach myself to tat...still.

So. How does the mid-life crisis look on me? ;)

Whoo Hoo!
Done with work. (For the most part...)

The carpet guys were back today to finish the stairway. You know what Maiya had to say about that?........."Good deal there heffer momma, too bad it's a 'day late and a dollar short'. I sure could have used that padding last week. When I Fell Down The Stairs!!!" At least that's what I think she said....;)

These Olympics are really killing me. Way too many late nights and early mornings.

Hopefully the biggies will end up going camping with Dave this weekend. (Can you feel the scrapping vibe...?)

Have a great weekend all!

Randomness
City vs Country revisited~
We had to stop for a train the other night on the way home from the amusement park. At that point we had lived here for 7 years, 7 months, and 16 days. That is the first time we ever had to stop for a train.

The country is less populated, that's why the bus holds K-12th graders and it still isn't full.

I think if we were to move back to the city now, the kids would not appreciate what they left behind. If we move when they are older, I think they will long to be back in the country.

Priorities~
Mine have been all wrong lately.

The kids~
I'm ashamed to say that I let Devin slip through my own cracks somehow with the ABC's and whatnot.

It's amazing how much crap Trent can stir up in the short time he is home from school.

Maiya is back up my backside, and I like it this time around.

Work~
Fun while it lasted this go around.

The House~
Still needs tons of work, but will happen someday. (See Priorities, above.)

My Health~
Needs work. It's hard to be the best person you can be when you aren't eating, resting, and feeling your best.

The Changes~
Nursing home hiatus again.

Devin will continue to work on ABC's at home, and start preschool next week. (M & W, 3 hours each day.)

Home projects are now at the bottom of the daily "To-Do" list.

Healthier eating, "down" and "me" time for the momma, water (ack!), and exercise (double ack!!)

Family harmony first, everything else secondary.

Can you just smell the winds of change....?

Cliff Notes:
Friday~Maiya fell down all 16 stairs while the babysitter was here. E GADS!!! She's fired, but Maiya is okay. The sleepover went well.

Saturday~Took the biggies blueberry picking. Yum. Family bike ride day on the trail and dinner out.

Sunday~Migraine day, argue with your spouse day, Michigan's Adventure day.

Today~Three hour shift at nursing home, appointment at the orthofdontist for Trent. The spacers are in place, the orthodontic journey has begun. Girls to daycare, meeting minutes to do, house to clean, first grade open house to attend, grocery shopping to do.

Off.
My rocker? ;)

No, off for the next 3 days. Whoo Hoo! Tomorrow Trent and I are hanging out in GR, window shopping, school shopping, having lunch. The girls will be home with Dave and the babysitter will relieve him at 1 pm. Then we will have Devin's little friend Hannah come over for dinner and movies. We are in the process of working her up to an all-nighter, except she is afraid of Dave, so we'll see how long this takes.

Hopefully Dave and the biggies will go camping this weekend, and leave me and little itty bitty home.

No real weekend plans yet, there are some things that must get done though.

We have doors upstairs again. Thank you Mr. Jim!

Memo to me of sorts.
My List
Under an old brass paperweight is my list of things to do today
Go to the bank and the hardware store, put a new lock on the cellar door
I cross 'em off as I get 'em done but when the sun is set
There's still more than a few things left I haven't got to yet

Go for a walk, say a little prayer
Take a deep breath of mountain air
Put on my glove and play some catch
It's time that I make time for that
Wade the shore and cast a line
Pick up a long lost friend of mine
Sit on the porch and give my girl a kiss
Start livin', that's the next thing on my list

Wouldn't change the course of fate but cuttin' the grass just had to wait
'Cause I've bot more important things like pushin' my kid on the backyard swing
I won't break my back for a million bucks I can't take to my grave
So why put off for tomorrow what I could get done today

Like go for a walk, say a little prayer
Take a deep breath of mountain air
Put on my glove and play some catch
It's time that I make time for that
Wade the shore and cast a line
Pick up a long lost friend of mine
Sit on the porch and give my girl a kiss
Start livin', that's the next thing on my list

Raise a little hell, laugh 'til it hurts
Put an extra five in the plate at church
Call up my folks just to chat
It's time that I make time for that
Stay up late, then oversleep
Show her what she means to me
Catch up on all the things I've always missed
Just start livin', that's the next thing on my list

Under an old brass paperweight
Is my list of things to do today

Whew!
I now have this Friday off.
Next week I had requested Tuesday and Wednesday off since those are Trent's first two days of first grade.
Two days were removed from my schedule the following week.

I love flexibilty in an employer. I must say that this job has flexed over backwards with me on many an occasion. I love them for that. A little of that goes such a long way. :) Now I can heave a big sigh of relief. *SIGH* I logged 117 hours on the clock between the nursing and clerk job this last month. (And I took that week off from work when the kids were gone...) That doesn't include drive time, or anything house/home related.

Everyone else in the house is flu free for now, knock on wood. Yay!
The bus stop is right in front of the house. Yay!
The Council talked 'raises' for the clerk and treasurer on the 2005 budget. Yay!
The carpet for the stairway is ready to be installed, just need to set the day. Yay!

I almost forgot *Gasp!* about a nail appointment today. There wasn't enough time to get both of us done in time though. I did Cheri's, and I get to do mine tonight.

Brain farting, can't think of anything else right now.......(Unless you count the kids, and why they aren't in bed yet. That's about all I can think of.)

Quick Olympic break...
I logged 8,500 steps on the pedometer yesterday...7,100 were at work. Say it with me now...."Gee Chris, sit on yer arse much when you get home?" ;) Ha! That is exactly what I did.

I was bit more motivated today...started village checks for Monday, putzed around the yard a tiny bit, made dinner, took the kids for a long walk, washed dishes, did laundry, cleaned and straightened.

No plan yet for tomorrow. Probably school shopping though for the big 1st grader.

Help wanted.
One babysitter (husband, father..) who will not do any of the following:

Leave vomit on the toilet.
Or the curtains.
Or the desk.
Or the floor.
Or the lamp.

Somehow let the baby get a white deodorant stick and paint the hunter green wallpaper with it.

Oy! Trent is the pukey child today. Maiya is the snotty allergy, tooth cutting child today. Devin is the snotty allergy child today. Let the games begin I say! Indeed.

In other news........that $2.13 raise really makes a difference on my check, about $90 worth. Country men are flirty today. I really miss my dishwasher. The Olympics start tonight. It's the weekend and I am off, thank you jesus! They are scheduling the hell outta me. Whoever coined the phrase "No use crying over spilled milk" ought to have the shit slapped out of them. I have no shampoo in the house. Dave is working all day tomorrow. I'm praying for a puke free day. I can't wait to buy the carpet steamer, and that is so sad. It has been down right frigid this whole month. The heat has been on more than once in the house. The leaves are actually changing colors in some spots. *HORRORS!!!* I need a day off from everything and everyone. I've gotten to the point that I can't speak coherently sometimes when I'm hooting and hollering at the kids, or calling them...."TrentdamnitDevinughyouthereboy!!" I'm like a crazy momma. School starts in 11 days and you may as well take my "Mother of the Year (NOT) badge away for what I'm about to say........I CAN'T WAIT!!! Never thought I'd say that...thank goodness that just makes me human.

Have great weekend all!!

The bad:

Three kids, all with snotty noses and bad attitudes. Whine. Whine. Whine.
No dinner plan yet.
Two point five busted nails. (hahah, laughable in the big scheme of things, but a pita none the less.)
Having to work eight hours on Friday when I thought I was working three. Cancells out the working for three, when I thought I was working eight tomorrow I guess.

The good:
I actually got a chance to clean and straighten the house, which is (sadly) good for my soul.
The hamper is almost empty, not enough to do a full load of whites even.
Slept in today.
Think I talked the school transportation people into picking Trent up in the ally behind the house. Whoo Hoo there! (Now, if I can just avoid hell neighbor during this ...)
All the dishes are washed...makes me want to eat out.
Talked Dave out of a day shift job that wouldn't be what he was looking for anyways. (I will be damn glad when his 'mid life crisis disguised as a job search' fizzles out...)
Two days until the big Olympics.
I have postponed the garage sale until next year. WHACK!! ;)
My handy guy already knows what the next thing on the agenda is......and he's not running away from my 6 foot long, never ending list.
I decided to attack things that need to be done in the form of mini-goals. I think three days is a good time frame for each goal. I haven't decided what the first goal is and when to start though. *Lightbulb moment* ;)

FYI:
I logged 10,700 steps on my pedometer yesterday. I thought it was interesting that 7,200 of those were at work.
My toenails have stained glass artwork on them right now.
I love bacon. Any pork product really...
I haven't lost any weight since starting back to work.

Stop the ride...
...yada, yada, yada.

Guest room is about finished, just needs a border up top. And yes I did crap out on the painting and declare it a border room. I heaved and hoed (sp like a mother there...) and pushed and shoved all the village furniture in there yesterday. The guest bed too. The playroom is back to a playroom now. It's missing about half of the toys though, they are still up in the attic.

Need to put the skids on home improvement the rest of this week and concentrate on village meeting (next Monday), nursing home work (full day tomorrow and Thursday, 3 hour shift on Friday, off Wednesday. Did I mention I got a $2.13 an hour raise recently?), and fun stuff. That's right fun stuff damnit. School starts in two weeks! Ugh! My baby will be taking the bus...:( And Dave will have to get him (and two extra kids) to the bus stop at the butt crack of dawn. Not really the butt crack, but it will feel like it to Dave, since he's pulling the afternoon shift. I'm taking the first day of school off to see my boy off....*sniff*

Speaking of my boy, he and I were home yesterday instead of being at the zoo. I'm so freaking tired of dealing with his constipation issues. Do you know any other person or child in the world that can go 7 days without pooping? Trent can. He didn't crap the whole time he was down state, then comes home and is one step away from an ER visit. I just want to worry about my own pooping patterns. He went to the Dr.'s today to boot...another sinus infection. We may have to consider the allergy shots.....

Devin....lots of baby talk coming out of her. The guilty over-thinker in me wonders if it's because I'm working, and they are pretty much on ignore in the morning with Dad...:(

Maiya.....being a pain in the hiney to Devin at night. Wants to be in Devin's bed sooo bad, climbs right up like she owns it and shoves Devin aside. Hahaha! We have to pull her out about three times each night and plunk her back into her own big girl bed.

Not sure what else is new lately...the days are running together anymore. Things should settle down after this week, thank goodness. Then I can start gearing up for the garage sale next month.

So much to do...so little time.
As always, not everything I'd hope to accomplish got done.

The guest room has two coats of paint on it. Need to let it dry overnight and see about a third coat or not. I wanted to paint baseboards upstairs today......not happening though. It will have to wait.

We leave here at 7 am tomorrow to pick up the kids. Yay! I miss them, although I will admit that another week or so would be nice. ;) I'm only human ya know. I'll try to do baseboards when we get home. We shall see if it happens, the trip is about 12 hours when it's said and done. That is the drive time, out to lunch and the VBS program. Devin has no bed to sleep in when we get home, it's still in the attic. Trent's is in his room, no sheets though.....looks like a "CAMPING!!" night tomorrow.

We are going to the zoo on Sunday, hope the weather is nice. Only 3 weeks until school starts...:( We haven't even been camping yet. I have a bunch of ideas for day trips though. We aren't having a proper vacation this summer since Dave has no vacation time. It will have to wait until winter, and he is saying something about driving south and checking on his parents in FL. That is a whole other story...............

Off to dinner and a movie now. Where and what for dinner? Dunno. What movie? Dunno. Sometimes this "new me" (the anti-planner) is annoying. ;)

One of the big 5...
....scent. Are you an olfactory kind of person? I know I am. Certain scents can 'take me back', this can be good and bad. I think money spent on a Yankee brand candle is money well spent. I'm enjoying (?) the wet diaper smell of my Bunny...maybe because I know I'll never smell it again soon enough?

I love being able to smell. Fresh grass, an impending storm, an old favorite cologne, newborn baby smell, baked goods, the creosote and wood smell of my house. I could go on for days...

Happy 8th anniversary to my hunny today! We get to celebrate it on Thursday. :)

It's amazing.
How much stuff you can move and reassemble, even when it wasn't the plan and it's not what you want to do. When the power goes out! For. Five. Hours. I was supposed to be painting....instead,I put the beds back together and moved heavy things with help from Maiya. She pushed, and she shoved, and she grunted. It was extremely funny. She was all over the idea of her "big girl" bed while I made it up. She sure changed her tune at bedtime. She is in the Pack & Play, next to the big girl bed.

The carpeteers have to come back and tack down one more section of carpet, and lay the runner down the stairs. The power outage halted their progress. It looks great up there, and feels even better. Maiya ran around up there like fruit loop, then she would lay down on it and roll around. A real live carpet commercial she was... The doors will all have to be planed and then re-hung. We don't even own a plane.

I must go to bed now. Now that the power is back on, go figure. Tomorrow is voting day.......need to work from 6:30am till about 9pm (on my anniversary).

Have a great Tuesday!

Springy!
My damn upstairs is springy now, as in it has some give when you walk across it. I am soooo going to be loving this carpet! The pad is all down, the tack strips (?) and the carpet is mostly cut and layed. The carpeteers have gone to lunch. I am taking a break from priming right now to get Baby M fed. I have culled the toybox (!$&!&!^, 4 bags are outta here!), and I'm almost done with the books. Roll on train of progress...

Join me. In my bedroom.
Gawd knows there is room for you all now. Dave and I disassembled and or moved:

A trundle bed.
A crib.
A queen sized bed.
A full sized bed.
Three nightstands.
A cedar chest.
Five dressers.
Two rugs.
A wooden toybox.
A bookcase.
Various odds and ends.
A TV.
And a VCR.

The upstairs is completely empty and carpet ready. I vacuumed, photographed, and wrote permanent little love notes on the floors to all who sleep there. ;)

The other "To-Do's" for the day shall wait until tomorrow. Those are:
Going through all the toys for trash and garage sale items.
Going through all the books (five large boxes) and pulling most of them for the garage sale.
Priming the guest room. YAY.....finally!!!

Instead of doing the things listed above, we went to Home Depot (I really want to work there....*sigh*) and Meijer. We got the primer and dark green paint for the guest room, and a new light fixture. Also grabbed grass seed, some shelves for the kitchen, and shelves for Trent's room.

The plan is for the carpet to be done by tomorrrow night, and the stair runner to go in a Tuesday. I need to go look for new dressers tomorrow. I'm so glad to be rid of the old Wal-Mart Sauder brand pieces of crap!

Yesterday was a long day.....we got off to a late start and had to rearrange our picture appointment time. That put us at Dave's work shin-dig early, but it was fun. There were all sorts of cool things for the kids to do. The bouncy house, a bungee card race thing, a blown up super slide, a 25" climbing tower, face painting, etc. The lines were long so the kids didn't get to do everything before we had to leave but they had fun. Trent went all the way to the top of the climbing tower. Devin freaked a bit and wanted down. As soon as she was down she changed her mind and cried when she couldn't go back up. :( They both got their faces painted like tigers. They also got to see the Aero-Med helicopter land. We had a nice lunch and scooted off to the Sears appointment. Maiya did pretty well and her pictures will be ready for pick-up on the 20th. We drove like crazy after that and would have been on time to meet my sister, except for whatever happened on the freeway 5 miles from our destination. It took me 50 minutes to go those 5 miles. Gotta love the big city. I so do not miss that! Trent nearly had a stroke when he discovered he was going to have to pee in a pop bottle, because there is just no pulling over on the side of the road in the city. *Snicker* Dinner was good, and the drive home long...but today has been sooooo quiet! I talked to both kidlets a little while ago and they are of course both fine and wanting no part of coming home yet.

***Cute Bunny alert!!!***
The other day while waiting for traffic to clear, she is sitting next to me with her arm waving around in the air. Ha! Took me a minute, but I realized that she was doing the "Mr. Trucker Man, please honk your big horn" move. She's been watching her brother and sister (okay...and mom) do it on these long drives.

Today at Meijer when the cashier asked her if she was having fun shopping, she shook her head no.

Yesterday when I told her to go get Trent for breakfast, she went a grabbed him by the hand and said "Ca-mon."

Tonight while Dave talked to Trent on the phone she grabbed her play phone and started yakking away. Of course she didn't make a peep when she had the real phone to her ear with both Trent and then Devin on the other end.

Taking such good care of all the baby dolls around here.

...........such a sweet baby. She's moving out of the crib when the carpet is done. Surprise! I am waffling on this though, so we shall see. The plan is to put her in the bottom trundle bed....it's about 6" off the floor. She has always taken nap and bedtime very serious, there is no fussing and carrying on with her. She lays down. End of story for her. Never wanted to be rocked, held, messed with. Just wants to go to bed. I have one of the extra tall baby gates and I'll put that in the doorway until I can go back (duh!) to Meijer's and get the one that mounts to the wall with the swing open door.

Happy Friendship Day to all....it's darn near over. I wanted to get my scanner up and running today so I could post a picture of my friend of all friends...Shanny. I shall add it to tomorrow's list. :)

The good, the bad, and the ugly...
The good:
· Work was relatively painless today.
· The election worker training was shorter than I expected.
· The kids were actually happy to see me when I picked them up. Not a peep about "Buuuuutttttt Moooommmmmm, I don't wanna leave yet...."
· Frozen pizza for dinner=no whining for dinner.
· Ice cream for dessert.
· Kids that actually helped wash dishes to get said ice cream. ;)
The bad:
· My dishwasher fix was short lived. The damn thing is toast.
· The overflowing sink full of dishes that had to be done.
The ugly:
· The 6-foot radius of Corelle plate splinters on the floor. Luckily Devin was okay, since she fell into the mess.
The best:
· Teaching Maiya how to give and receive "thumb kisses."
· Teaching Devin and Maiya how to wink, then cracking up at their attempts. Devin can't do it with her mouth closed. And Maiya? She just blinks really, really hard then laughs her infectious little 18 month old laugh...
· Watching Trent try to teach his sisters how to wink, since he is such an *old pro* at it.

I need to make an appointment for Maiya to have her 18 month pictures taken...I also need to get her measured and marked on the kitchen doorway. Wonder if anyone would notice a missing piece of doorway when we ever sell the house...? All three kids get measured and marked twice a year.

It doesn't look like the guest room is going to be finished in time for the carpet job. That just means that I get to move all the toys downstairs, where they won't have a home for right now. More stuff to trip over. I'll do the major cull and clean out of them when the kids are away for the week.

More headachiness today.....think it's gone for good now though. Until the next child induced crisis.
The kids lost out on the fair, and also a camping sleepover that they have been looking forward to at Miss Sue's. Tomorrow when Dave drops them off at Sue's, they will have to tell her they can't attend the camp-out and why. Dave also saw fit to dole out spankings...that had about as much effect on Trent as I thought it would. It made a somewhat bigger impression on Devin, probably because she's never had one from Dad.

Good times these are...and they are only going to get better. ;)

The talk of the village this week is the asshats that were across the street from me in the middle of the night stealing wood Friday night. They are either the dumbest criminals alive, or were waaayyyyy drunk. Or both. I'm thinking that if you're going to steal wood, you may not want to chuck it into a metal truck without even trying to be a tad quiet about it. I was soooooo tired that night, and not a damn bit happy to be woken up at midnight to that.

I have been slowly getting caught up on village work again. Managed to get the meeting minutes done today also. I've been keeping a log of the hours I spend on village work for a week now. It is not pretty...

Need to hit the hay early tonight.....pulling the 6-1pm shift tomorrow. Leaving there early to go to a 2 pm election training class. I was off today, thank goodness! I pull the 7-10 on Wednesday, and 6-2:30pm on Thursday. Then I'm off on Friday and Trent and I have a date. We are going out to dinner and to see a play. I need to pack for the biggies that day too. They head for my sisters/moms on Saturday. FOR THE WEEK. Gotta love living far away from family, it makes them do some crazy ass shit for you...

I think I may actully go crazy if this guest room is not finished very soon. Everything in this house is out of place, and Miaya is into everything. I WANT MY HOUSE BACK!!! I need for it to be done before next Monday because I still need to paint it and move the guest bed into it. Then I can move the toys back downstairs. I do not want to have to move the toys from room to room when they are installing the carpet next Monday. Gaaaahhhh....

Today started the "Trent, we really need to help Devin learn her letters, and help you brush up for the first grade that starts in 4 weeks" program here at home. Neither one of them wanted to stop working on it this evening. Maiya thinks she must sit on the big notebook that we were using though...

The migraine is finally gone.
I'm pretty sure it was "Christ, my kids were out on the roof..." related. I'm having a hard time dealing with this.....the rational me does know that:
· He is 6...and a boy. These types of things are bound to occur.
· The roof (porch roof) looks pretty inviting. Even I wish I could sit out there and read.
· He thinks he's a Superhero.
· Short of sitting on him, I can't have him in my direct line of sight every second of every day.
The irrational me thinks:
· I can't believe I suck so bad that this happened (twice according to him) on *my watch.*
· I can't believe that I've raised such a dense child, he should know better.
· I can't believe that momma's littliest boy would blatently disobey me like that.
· I should have been watching him closer.
· I have the windows in their rooms safety rigged, why didn't I do my own?
· This wouldn't have happened if I hadn't gone back to work part time.
Ugh......this has been just about the worst two days for me. I can't even begin to describe my feelings when I opened that door and saw him heading back into the room.

DAMNIT, DAMNIT, DAMNIT!!!
Well then...I guess the decision of wheather or not to leave the toys upstairs after the carpet is installed has been made. I'm finishing up village stuff, the kids head upstairs to play. The running around in circles starts immediately. I put the paperwork away and head up there to get Maiya and holler at the biggies to get out of my room. I open the door in time to see Trent coming back in through the window...from the fucking roof!!! Heaven help me. He said this is the second time he has done it. This time Devin joined him. Granted he is a 6 y/o boy, and I think this may be somewhat normal but CRAP! Granted he saw Mommy and Daddy out on the roof damn near all last summer, but CRAP! Granted it is easy access, the windows are only 16" off the floor, but CRAP! Lord help me....I've barely begun reading the two books I grabbed from the library on 'raising boys...' CRAP! He won't be feeling so rough and tumble and invincible tomorrow when he finds out that we aren't going to the fair as punishment. Oy! Do you think a scared, crying mommy has any kind of impact on a 6 y/o little boy?

Gaaah!!!
I feel like a 6 month old, I cannot take the stimuli....tell me why the following things must ALL happen at the same time:

The house phone rings
The Village phone rings
Trent is squealing
The dog is outside barking
The neighbor is weedwhacking
The washing machine is spinning
The diswasher is spewing water out
Devin is whining
And Maiya is climbing onto the scrapping desk, getting in to the pens

Why? Why all this stimulation I ask...

And where are all these fancy new html options anyways? I am feeling left out... (and where the hell is the spell check?!?)

Got *my sign* yesterday. As in 'Here's a sign for you...if you fall asleep at the dinner table while the kids are eating it may be a sign that you should sit down at some point mid day and close your eyes and rest...' Good grief.

When you ask Maiya if she wants a cookie, she gives you the 'double-barrel' finger point with both hands, to the cookie jar along with a huge cheesy grin. She said "Doctor", and "Linda" (as in Miss Linda next door) today. Her ear infection is clear.

Feeling a tad behind lately with everything. Need more time in the day. Nah. Maybe less to do for awhile.

Observations of the day.
If the critters and birds would just slow their roll in the early morning darkness and fog, instead of thinking they needed to haul ass *somewhere*, there wouldn't be half as much road kill on the road to try and maneuver through in the early morning darkness and fog...

Maiya dances like Elaine from Seinfeld.

People must love working with me, since I ask if there is anything I can do for them to help them out when I am finished with my work.

I don't work with too many people on day shift who return that favor.

Little children get lots of bruises on their shins.

I'm tired of renting movies, paying late fees and STILL not seeing the damn things.

McDonald Oreo McFlurries pretty much rock.

Devin does not possess the skill of walking softly.

First grade starts in 6 weeks.

Maiya's mental wheels are working overtime...such a smart cookie she is.

I can't imagine life without the bonus baby.

I can imagine life without the dog.

Especially since the rugs are clean.

Devin is going to do huge things some day.

Dave and I have been hanging out together for 16 years now....almost half my life.

This song makes me want to dance on the table. (Would someone please run an intervention on my ass. Country? Ack!

Sometimes it's best to veer from the day's plan and not stress over it.

Have a happy Wednesday all...hump day, Prince spaghetti day.

The painting train keeps rolling.
The kitchen walls are painted, and the border halfway done. Need to paint the cabinets and finish the border today.

Dave and I will move some furniture today so the rugs can be cleaned tonight.

The tub has been repainted, still working on the shelves. Cranberry color, so it takes 90 million coats for full coverage. Gah!

I have the Mr Clean Magic Erasers and can go to town on the bathroom floor today.

I'm scheduling the kids for every second of daycare I can this week. And it doesn't make me a bad momma no matter what that little nagging voice in my head says....Better to bust ass and be done in one week than keep crabbing and dragging on the process for the rest of the summer.

This week's festivities will include in no particular order: getting the rest of the paint off the kitchen floor, sanding it and sealing it, sealing the hoosier, priming and painting the guest room/office, removing quarter round trim from the whole upstairs, painting the baseboards upstairs, priming and painting Trent's closet, working M-W-Th-F from 7-10 am, working tomorrow from 6-2:30, paying the village bills and getting completely prepared for the meeting next Monday, watching Mystic River, making the short hours that the kids are home really count, slapping up some textured paint on our bedroom ceiling, configuring the placement of beds and toys for when we switch bedrooms with the girlies, taking Trent to the orthodontist (!) on Wednesday, I'm sure there is more, but that's all I can think of right now.

Maiya, and the rest of us are spot free...yay, so off to work I go.

Happy Monday all! :)

Woot!
Bathroom is painted, just need to hit two small spots in the morning and double check it all in the light. I need to buy a few (27) Mr Clean Magic Erasers tomorrow. That will make quick work of the floor grout, and then I can seal it. Then I'll hang the new shower curtain and set out the accessories. That just leaves the hardware and mirror. Yay! (Oops, forgot I need to touch up the tub and paint the edges of the shelves...no biggie though.) Damn, I feel like I could paint the whole kitchen single handedly tomorrow. That just may happen since I'll be waiting all day for Dave to "motivate." ;)

Need to figure out what the "fun plan" is for tomorrow....family day.

I ended up taking the kids to go get some movies today (Haunted Mansion and Mystic River), then off to BK where we snagged lunch to eat at the playground. Within 3 minutes of sitting down at the picnic table, Devin managed to knock over my big ass Dr. Pepper, soaking me from crotch to shoes. Sigh. (Did I have any baby wipes in the diaper bag? Noooooooo.....what gives there?) Then she had the nerve to get all pissy when I made her switch seats with me..."Why do I hafta sit here and get all soakin wet?" she says. (After I sopped up the mess with every napkin we had.) God love her.

Only 34 more days until the Olympics start. I love the summer Olympics. Love, love, love them. I am a certifiable fruitcake about them, I do not know why. They move me to tears. I love, love, love track & field. I cannot wait to sit on my arse for 2 weeks and watch them with the kids. I really love them. Love!

Well, it isn't often I make to watch SNL...might as well take advantage of it.

CRIPES!!!
I feel a meltdown coming on, and it's going to be mine.

In the 2 hours and 15 minutes the gang has been up, I have dealt with:

"Mom, Maiya has paint on her..."
"Uh, hon...Maiya is playing in the cleaning supplies...."
"Didn't I just tell you two to stay out of the neighbors blackberries?"
"Do not tip that Lazyboy chair over!"
"Did you really have to fill that brand new spanking clean diaper with poop?"
"Mom...I'm still hungry."
"Mom, where is my new tattoo? You said we could have new ones today..."
"Where are my pants?"
"Where is my belt?"
"Where are my shoes"
"I need some money."
"Mom, when are we going to go to the beach?"
"Mom, when are we going to go to the water park again?"
"Mom, when are we going to scrap?"
"Mom, can I have my shirt off?" NO! "But I'm freezing..."
And in the time it took me to turn on the TV and find something for the biggies to watch...Maiya wolfed down my PB & J sandwich and smeared jelly everywhere.

I SWEAR TO GOD, IT IS LIKE A VERBAL CHINESE WATER TORTURE......

Whine ahead, and it isn't coming in a glass.............

My back hurts...it seized up yesterday at Meijer. My glands are swollen and I have a funky throat. My fillings from a few weeks ago still have a dull ache. The bathroom is a wreck, and only half painted. Maiya is a fussbucket, can't blame her though. :( The biggies have been driving me nutso the last few days, Trent mainly. At first I thought it was post migraine psychosis, but know I know better. He's trying to get the better of me what with all the squealing and repetitive noises. All. Day. Long. I can't really take them out and go anywhere in good conscience, since Maiya has the cooties.

I need to re-prioritize. The house is driving me crazy since just about every room is a mess. Except that is not what matters right now. I swore I was not going to spend the whole short summer working on the house instead of having fun with the kids. I'd love to do these home things after the kids go to bed at night, except it seems I've got nothing left to give by then. So in an effort to 'de-funk' myself, here are the positives:

*Jim should be done with the guest room in one more day. (Monday) Then we can move the futon out of the computer room and back where it belongs.
*The bathroom should be smooth sailing as soon as I finish painting it (Today damnit!) I'll have Jim put up all the hardware and it will be done with the exception of curtains and a sink skirt.
*The kitchen should be pretty easy to paint and border.
*The kitchen floor is half stripped already (From last summer, crikey...)
*All the rugs are being steam cleaned Monday night.
*The dog moves outside about 7 minutes after the carpet cleaning guy leaves.
*The carpet for upstairs arrives in 22 more days. Yay! It will be quieter in here.
*After the hardwood floor is redone in the guest room, the village office moves in there. Then I should actually be able to work instead of pulling Maiya off the fax machine/out of the garbage/out of the desk drawers/off the adding machine every two minutes.
And more importantly,
*I have three beautiful children who like to hang out with me still. Guess I'll go shower and figure out what to do with them today. :)

Now would somebody just tell me to shut up and stop whining? Katie....? ;)

Updatage.
So, Wednesday night I see a spot on Maiya's foot. Uh oh...I say to my self, "Gee, that looks a lot like when Trent and I had hand/foot/mouth disease a few years ago. I checked her again at 5:30 am Thursday morning before I start getting ready for work. See a few more. Crap! I get ready for work and head in, knowing full well that I will be returning home very soon. I of course end up turning right around and coming back home. Let it not be said that I got preferential treatment, or called off within my first two weeks back on the job. CYA I say... So I've been here at home yesterday and today instead of at work. Maiya is doing pretty well with her cooties. She doesn't have very many spots so that is good. The biggies show no signs of it so far. Knock on wood! The ear infection seems to be long gone though, she has a follow up appointment in a week and a half or so.

Yesterday was spent cleaning and straightening the dining room. Joy. So much paper clutter and crap...recipes, Trent's kindergarten papers, weight loss paperwork, organizational (ha!) papers, baby books, craft ideas and supplies. It was an all day affair, and it isn't completely finished.

Today I did some grocery shopping, and actually managed to stick to the budgeted amount (YAY!) even with the painting things thrown in.

In in week that the computer was down, I managed to also break the dishwasher and vacuum. Dave managed to blow out the hairdryer too, good thing we had a spare. Dishwasher was a semi-easy fix, and the vacuum will be ready to roll and suck (hehe) next Friday. I also celebrated my 10 year anniversary of becoming a nurse. Time flies, except for when you are waiting for the vacuum to be done. ;)

The garden is rocking! We laid the newspapers and straw down so that there is no weeding to do. Not sure I like that though....I miss weeding a tiny bit. We've had tomatoes, peas, snap peas, green onions, leaf lettuce, and herbs out of there so far.

I need to either go do some painting outside, or get painting in the bathroom right now. What I really want to do is sit on the couch, let my ass grow roots and sip a coffee. Guess I'll sip coffee outside, push the kids on the swings and make the decision later.

I have care package supplies to send to folks.....except I need to do it in two or three staggered groups. *Wink*

Oh...
...my aching head today! Tip of the day: Never wake up with a migraine the day of your eye exam. Nothing like a little dilation and bright lights to really secure that bastard in your melon...

Working the next two days, but hope to catch up blogging and reading soon.

Have a great Thursday all Katie. ;)

The computer is down. I'm library-ing it....sucky, sucky, sucky. Haven't had time to take the beast in, but I hope to do that today. Been working...and more than that, missing y'all!!

Hopefully I'll be back in business very soon, and able to respond to comments, even Kim's triple deal. ;)

Can I just say...
...that day shift sucks? The last time I worked days was December 1996, and it was more 8-4/9-5 ish..........I missed the joint though, and the people. I love geriatric nursing.

Originally when I went in to talk to the director of nursing I said that in a perfect world, she would have some sort of 4 hour (maybe treatment nurse) shift for me, that way I wouldn't need any daycare. She mulled that over, and a few days later talked to me about working from 7-10 am to help with the morning med pass. Whoo Hoo! I have 2 of my six days of orientation in now. After those 6 days are up, I pull a trial run of the 7-10 am deal. It's on the "QT" right now, so that nobody gets their panties in a twist because I walked in a snagged a cake mini shift. After the two weeks are up, they will decide if they want to keep it going or not. So all I have to do now is make it work for me. Even if they decide to ditch the idea, working a few days here and there of the full 8 hours won't be so bad. Things have improved since I last worked there. Four am comes way too early though.

I have tomorrow off, and I am taking Trent to the dentist for full x-rays. Last time he was in, they did partial x-rays are were disturbed by what they saw. His adult molars are coming in so crooked (and early at that...), that they are pushing out the baby teeth and absorbing the roots of them, or something along those lines. Oy! After we are done there we need to go get some tomato cages or big ass stakes. The garden is kicking tail! The peas are all over the place, the tomatoes are getting red, hot peppers are spring up and the zucchini's are getting ready to explode. I cut the rhubarb stalks down the other day, they were taller than me! God love the cow shit compost.

Dave had a busy day today, I am so proud of him. ;) He managed to call and make an appointment for Maiya, take all three of them to the Dr.'s this morning, get them fed breakfast and lunch, get them all in the car to come to my work to get his ID badge out of the truck, and get them all to daycare on time. He rocks.....who knew? Not me. I've made him so dependent by being a control freak for so long. His free ride is over I say.

I'm glad he was able to get Maiya in today, she has an ear infection. Poor baby. She's had one dose of antibiotic so far and I think she is feeling better already. At least she is acting like she does. The biggies had such nice manners all afternoon and evening too. What an awesome day to come home to. Dave said he had to hammer down hard on Trent this morning, so that may have something to do with it. Trent is probably still in shock since Daddy is hardly ever the "hammer parent" as we call it around here...

Sunday night wind down...
Well, I made it until 11:30 pm last night in the tent before I "took one for the team." Maiya was still up and trouncing all over Devin's hair, waking her up and making her cry. We were all smushed into the two man tent......two grown ups, three kids, a queen size air mattress and a little TV to watch Ice Age on. No place for a claustrophobic I tell ya! I was glad to go. ;)

Today I managed to do my nails, get the laundry caught up, have the weekly argument with Dave, then we all went to play putt-putt. For dinner we packed up the picnic basket with chicken & dumplings, PB & J's, fruit and veggies and dip and headed to the school. We ate, played, then went for ice cream.

I need to go pack a lunch for work tomorrow, another 6-2:30 day. Last Friday at work was good, it felt good to be back actually. Except they neglected to tell me they didn't expect me in until 8 am. That would have been really handy to know since I woke up at 5:18 am (CRAP!!!) that morning, thinking I had to be there by 6 am. I made it by 6 by the way.....do not ask me how many laws I broke to pull it off though, since it is a 24 minute drive to get there. More on the work deal later.....

Kid updates: Trent can't decide if he wants to be a whiney butt, or a smartass anymore. Devin is Hollywood bound......called herself "Ma-Devin" the other day. She also told me today when Trent left the room "Now you can have a piece of quiet..." Ha! Maiya has a sinus infection I think, Dave will have to call and get her an appointment tomorrow. She is looking taller all of the sudden, not quite so bow-legged. She can 'run' now, and looks hilarious when she does. She will 18 months old tomorrow. Yikes!

All is well...
...just too many SAHP lurkers for my taste right now. The blog is going more personal for awhile. Originally it was supposed to be an online, gentler version of my written journal. So far, I haven't gotten back to the actual journal. Since I'm keeping the blog pretty up to date, might as well 'let it all hang out' so to speak. :)
