Momma Drama

Tuesday, November 25, 2003 @ 6:56 AM

Look at me, with my 2 day skipping self.........I stink! I need to make this blog work, since I haven't written anything in my paper journal since August......I will make this work, and copy, paste and print.

Since the last entry......Devin decided to get the stomach flu overnight, that was Sunday night I believe. She was fine the next day though, thank goodness. So far so good for everyone else, wonder if it was just the pizza she ate.

I've been kicking butt on the baking for the holidays. Made 3 batches of toffee, a slew of creamy mint candies, a bunch of chocolate peanut butter fudge, more cookie dough, and some bar cookies. Yesterday I got all the cans wrapped in paper. Coffee, formula, etc. cans wrapped with Christmas paper to put the cookies/candies in. Still need to make some more pound cake.....some for the holidays, one for new neighbors that have moved in across the street. Need to get going on the personalized coffee mugs for the kiddies on our list. These go along with hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. Now the big question is do I make large chocolate dipped mallows, or small ones drizzled with chocolate? Hmmmmm...........

It snowed all day yesterday............there are a few inches on the ground out there. And it is cold...you can tell because the snow is sparkling like a fine diamond. When it's like that, you know it's freezing, and the snow will crunch under your feet, and the cold will bite the inside of your nose. Yup, I checked, and it's 14 degrees. I am so glad we are going to an indoor waterpark today with some friends.

Trent needs new snow boots, Devin slides into Trent's from last year, and baby Maiya gets none. I need to find a sled with a back support and a seatbelt on it....it is really going to suck walking Trent to school in the mornings for the next few months. We all need hats that cover our faces except for our eyes and mouths. BRRRRRRR!! I hate living here in MI in the winter, I can't even begin to express how much I hate it. It gets dark at 5, pitch dark, thanks to daylight savings time, and it snows, snows, snows...........I miss them using salt on the roads up here to melt the salt. They sling a little dirt up here, and call it good. Driving for me is a nightmare, especially when the kids are in the car with me.

The car is going to end up costing $1,000 and won't be ready until Friday. Much better than $3,000 though.

Dave's sister, BIL, and nephew will be here for Thanksgiving. They are due to arrive on Thursday.....their visits are always long and full of issues..........

Once Thanksgiving is over, I can get back to working on Christmas baking. The freezer has no more room. Which reminds me.........Dave needs to take the turkeys out of it, I told him last night, but he has that in one ear--->out the other syndrome.

The kids are watching Sesame Street right now.............oh how I hate Baby Bear. Why must he talk that way???

We will leave for the waterpark around noon. I'm technically supposed to be here until 4 pm to accept petitions and affidavits of identity of candidates that are running for Village Council seats in the March election. The Deputy Clerk will have to accept any that come in after about noon, when we leave. The Clerk job is starting to come together.....it's all stuff that I have absolutely no experience in, so I spent the first few months learning and floundering. I must be doing something right, they voted to give me a raise starting the first of the year. More than $100 more a month. Yay!

The natives are restless, yakking about food or something or other...........time to call it an entry. :) See ya all tomorrow.
